The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation continues to publish declassified archival documents about the battle of Moscow 1941.

In honor of the Day of the Unknown Soldier, which is celebrated on December 3, declassified documents were published, including the military journal of the 354th Infantry Division from the 16th Army, covering the events of late November - December 1941 - one of the most difficult periods in defense Moscow.

Units of the 354th rifle division arrived at the gangway station and on December 2 occupied a defensive line along the Klushino-Matushkino line. In just five days, 148 fighters of the Red Army were killed in fierce battles with the fascist invaders. 445 people received injuries of varying severity, 238 people froze.

It should be noted that the frosts set in those days at –25 degrees caused damage not only to the Nazis, but also to units of the Red Army.

However, Soviet soldiers managed not only to survive, but also on December 7, by order of Lieutenant General Rokossovsky, to go on the offensive on their sector of the front and supporting the offensive of neighboring units.

According to data published by the Russian Ministry of Defense, for 10 days of fighting, the 354th Infantry Division suffered severe losses of 3159 people. The publication also contains the registration card of the mass grave, where in November-December the dead defenders of Moscow were buried.
