In the West, it was believed that Ukrainian boats fired in neutral waters
The West does not want to admit the obvious: that on November 25, Ukrainian ships rudely violated the border and invaded the territorial waters of Russia. After all, if you recognize this fact, you have to restrain your anti-Russian statements and actions. Therefore, by all means, they are trying to find an excuse for the provocative actions of Kiev.
Thus, the international group Bellingcat, relying on data from "open sources", claims that the Ukrainian artillery ship "Berdyansk" was subjected to Russian shelling in neutral waters.
The authors of the investigation refer to the coordinates of the shelling, which was mentioned by the Federal Security Service of Russia. The FSB reported that the boat of the Russian border guards "Emerald" was forced to open fire in the direction of "Berdyansk", moreover, the shelling was carried out in the following coordinates: 44 ° 51'3 north latitude, 36 ° 23'4 east longitude.
The Bellingcat group claims that if this data is correct, then the Ukrainian artillery boat was not in the territorial waters of Russia, but in neutral waters. The shelling, the researchers emphasized, was conducted at 22,72 kilometers from the Crimean coast and more than half a kilometer from Russian territorial waters. The group wished to receive more accurate data from Ukraine and encouraged Kiev to publish it (it is not difficult to assume what kind of “data” Kiev would provide, which, out of habit, declared Russia an aggressor).
However, the authors of the material were forced to admit that Ukrainian boats actually crossed the border with Russia and entered the territorial waters, which are adjacent to the Crimean peninsula and to the mainland of the Russian Federation. Still, it is impossible to deny the obvious; one can only try to discover some minor inconsistencies and interpret them in favor of Ukraine.
