Russian Aerospace Forces acquired helicopter units to counter drones

It became known that some time ago, special helicopter units began to appear in the Russian Aerospace Forces to combat drones. The mentioned formations are equipped with modern Mi-28N Night Hunter rotorcraft, the crews of which will conduct a real hunt for drones in the sky.

The deployment of these units is taking place in several regions of the Russian Federation. Currently, helicopter crews undergo specific training to counter (intercept) all kinds of hostile UAVs at various times of the day and weather conditions. The Telegram channel “Military Informant” informed the public about this on September 7, citing its sources.

The new units already have their first targets shot down. So, in the Orel region, a Mi-28N shot down a Ukrainian UJ-30 Airborne UAV with a 22-mm autocannon. Another Mi-28N drove away a Ukrainian drone from the coast of Crimea

- says the material of military experts.

Note that in the latter case, a video of the pursuit of a reconnaissance drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the Black Sea and firing at it from a 2A42 cannon (250 rounds of ammunition) of 30 mm caliber of the Mi-28N attack helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces was published by the Ukrainian side.

It's a double-edged sword. Thus, helicopters can also be shot down by drones.

And each drone costs a penny. They are even made from cardboard. And now let's compare more than two thousand kilometers of the Russian-Ukrainian border, hundreds of penny drones and the Russian helicopter fleet.

A drone that won’t fly there “for a penny” - the range is a penny.

The helicopter easily evades small drones. The difference in speed is 2 times.

It is necessary to develop "shot-shot" shells for a helicopter gun.

True suggestion. It is better to shoot down small drones with a shotgun shot, or even with a shot when the weight is up to five kg. (in the image of clay target shooting from hunting rifles with a shotgun charge). It is also possible to use shotguns against small quadcopters dropping ammunition. With an aimed reset, they freeze, and it is quite possible to "get" them out of an automatic shotgun. In PVM, hunting shotguns were used for attacking and clearing trenches. One of the models of the American shotgun in WWI was nicknamed the "trenches cleaner". The Germans even made attempts to ban the use of shotguns through the Red Cross, as not a humane weapon, as it was effective. In close combat, a 12-gauge grape shot is a formidable weapon.

in close combat, a shot at a mined drone is a Darwin award. Just don’t tell me that at a distance of 50-100m a drone can be sprayed into atoms with buckshot. Most likely there will be a small scratch and nothing more. if it hits.

You have experience in shooting with buckshot and shot, it seems not. Try it, then you can express an opinion while empty outpourings without knowledge of the matter. Skeet shooting with small shot at 40 meters, with an increased canopy and buckshot, is quite enough for 100 meters. At what height do UAVs accurately drop ammunition, no more than 100 m and below. Close combat with a UAV is no closer than 20-30m, ammunition up to 200 grams of explosives is carried without consequences - who owns the Darwin Award, it seems to you.

I think "fighter" drones will appear soon. I don't even doubt it.

It's much easier to drop drop-down nets on them. We don’t waste a single cartridge, and if the drone falls, it’s definitely a disaster...

A heavy attack helicopter against a drone of several kilograms))) Well, since the drone over the Mi-28 World Cup only scared, this is another proof that the Mi-28 can only bring down its reputation from its turret installation. And targets smaller than the "barn" are only affected by a miracle.
