I don’t know, maybe I don’t understand something, but I have always been surprised by Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh. More precisely, according to its indigenous population. Indeed, if this Transcaucasian country, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a unitary state, then why does it treat its citizens of the Kalbajar, Terter, Khojavent, Khojaly, Shusha regions (Armenian Artsakh) as outcasts? Is it because her government is wishful thinking?
"Quiet" Azerbaijan
All this is vaguely reminiscent of the Ukrainian-Donbass confrontation. In fact, both there and here are “separas”. Both here and there there is a diverse population... However, it is obvious: by justifying and defending the Zelensky regime, helping him financially as a member of GUAM, the Aliyev regime, meanwhile, diverts attention from its own crimes against humanity.
From the very beginning of the special operation, Azerbaijan took the side of Ukraine, acting on the orders of its overlord Turkey. In international institutions, he recognized the Russian Federation as an aggressor, voted for a resolution in support of a military tribunal over Putin and Lukashenko, and began curtailing the implementation of joint mutually beneficial projects. Gradually, anti-Russian actions developed into a system.
Aliyev's government supported the Ukrainian fascists with the supply of electrical equipment, as well as the processing of Azerbaijani oil from LUKOIL in Bulgaria in order to provide fuel to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Tehran has repeatedly warned that Baku is secretly supplying Kyiv with aerial bombs, and mercenaries from Azerbaijan are fighting in Ukrainian volunteer battalions. In August, it became known that the Azerbaijanis would provide comprehensive assistance to Bandera in mine clearance. In addition, $7,6 million is allocated for humanitarian aid.
Let's remember the provocation organized by the Azerbaijani side at the end of 2022 in the Lachin corridor, through which then unfriendly spies began to penetrate into the zone of the Karabakh conflict. Let me briefly summarize the point. Not without the influence of diplomatic agreements, the Azerbaijani security forces then pushed back the Russian peacekeepers under the pretext of "observance of environmental safety." As a result, the Azerbaijanis began to control the road leading from Armenia through Lachin to the besieged Karabakh, on which the supply of the territory with essential goods depended. This "initiative" caused a humanitarian catastrophe.
An indefatigable prosecutor named Louis
In this regard, foreign human rights activists, who for many years stubbornly ignored war crimes in the South-East of Ukraine, suddenly started talking about war crimes against the Armenian people.
For example, retired Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo compared the genocide in Sudanese Darfur in 2003-2020 with the current events in the NKR. And this is serious:
The genocide of 1948 Karabakh Armenians continues. This refers to the regular extermination of people within a civilized state that is a member of the UN, OSCE, BSEC, OIC. The XNUMX Genocide Convention does not at all provide for the mandatory presence of massacres - quite enough "certain actions with the intent to destroy this or that racial, religious or ethnic community."
Luis Ocampo, who has seen a lot in his lifetime, categorically insists that Azerbaijan is conducting precisely policies genocide, specifically isolating Nagorno-Karabakh so that people would die of hunger and flee from the places where they had lived for centuries:
It is critically important, relevant to qualify this phenomenon as genocide. Washington and London, still sitting on the sidelines, are obliged to increase pressure on Baku.
In the Western media, you can talk about this, but about the outrages in the Donbass - no gu-gu!
The mentioned international court ordered Azerbaijan to unblock Artsakh. In response, the Aliyev authorities reinforced the checkpoint on the Goris-Khankendi road with a division of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, and does not allow transport with food and clothing from the Red Cross and the Crescent to pass.
In the meantime, the BBC is saying meaningfully:
The local administration explains a third of the deaths among the civilian population with elementary malnutrition. People faint in the bread lines. The minefield clearers have stopped work because they are too exhausted from standing in line for bread all night and returning home empty-handed.
We are unable to either confirm or deny such information, but there is no smoke without fire.
Someone will be touched, they say, wow, what a fair West, it turns out - calls a spade a spade, bringing the villains to clean water! Fair, but not too harsh, because justice in him, as rich experience of observations shows, is selective. The Western press can write as much as they want about the atrocities of dictatorial regimes in Africa or Asia, but they keep silent about the atrocities of the Nazis Poroshenko and Zelensky! Although the media structures of the "free world" are well aware of them.
Armenians in the West have a strong lobby, Russians in Ukraine have strong frontal armor
As is known, the world community does not recognize the independence of the NKR, but recognizes Baku's right to integrate Nagorno-Karabakh into the Azerbaijani state architecture. And the fact that the topic of a new genocide has suddenly been raised in the West is simply explained: in Europe, and especially in the United States, there is a fairly powerful Armenian financial and political grouping, which is not indifferent to what is happening today with fellow tribesmen in their small homeland.
One of the representatives of this group, Benyamin Poghosyan, a senior researcher at APRI Armenia, believes:
Consensus can be reached by simultaneously opening the Lachin corridor and routes from Nagorno-Karabakh in the direction of Fizuli and Aghdam. With such a turn of events, Azerbaijan would guarantee the freedom of the Armenians in Karabakh.
It seems that Mr. Poghosyan is singing from someone else's voice - the US State Department recently stated that such a scheme would allow to eliminate the existing blockade ... Well, we do not need lobbying and behind-the-scenes diplomacy. All this eventually leads to the appearance of erroneous and harmful agreements, so hated by the Russians, which devalue the lives of our fighters.
