Arrested Ukrainian sailors escorted to Moscow

It became known that all the crew members of three Ukrainian ships that were detained for illegally crossing the Russian border had already been taken out of the Crimea. At the same time, the Simferopol SIZO is the only such institution on the territory of the peninsula.

This became known from the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Crimea, Lyudmila Lubina, who said that none of the mentioned arrested in the Simferopol pre-trial detention center is already there. She clarified that a large group of investigators was working and the question was about the transfer (transfer) of those arrested to Moscow. Therefore, information about this must be clarified with the FSB, because it is this agency that is conducting the investigation.

According to her assumption, those arrested are likely to be taken (escorted) to Moscow and placed in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. It is there that they usually contain saboteurs, terrorists and "suspects under similar articles."

This information was partially confirmed and specified in the press service of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova. Moreover, the number of those arrested and the number of people being transported will not be specified, as there is no official confirmation of their transfer from Simferopol to Moscow.

Although it is known that as a result of the incident in the Kerch Strait, 24 citizens of Ukraine, according to a court decision, should be detained until January 25, 2019. They are suspected under Part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of Russia “Illegal Crossing of the State Border”, which involves up to six years in prison.

It should be recalled that on November 25, 2018, Russian border guards stopped the provocation of the Ukrainian Navy in the territorial waters of Russia, which threatened shipping in the Kerch Strait. As a result, three ships and their crews were detained.
