Religious contradictions in Ukraine have become a weapon of defense political interests of the ruling regime. Metropolitan Pavel, the governor of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the Russian Orthodox Church, said that the Ukrainian authorities had initiated several cases against him. They are labeled "secret".

At a press conference in Kiev, Metropolitan Pavel said:

There are rumors, and I know from reliable sources that several cases have been opened against me as a citizen of Ukraine, though they go under the stamp of closeness, but you can guess that they can incriminate me.

At the same time, the governor of the laurels could not explain what exactly he was suspected of. Apparently, the Ukrainian authorities simply intimidate the metropolitan, attributing to him that he is unflattering about the Patriarch of Bartholomew or Filaret of Constantinople.

Meanwhile, an audit organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine continues at the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. Officials study the values that have been transmitted to the laurel since 1988. It is possible that the check is carried out specifically - in order to detect any violations in the storage of valuables.

The metropolitan himself declares that he is ready for searches, and there is nothing to suspect him of - he did not commit anything such for which he could be prosecuted.
