Lithuania, following Poland, intends to increase the number of troops on the border with Belarus

Lithuania intends to increase the number of its troops on the border with Belarus. This was stated by the commander of the State Border Service Rustam Lyubaev. According to him, now the situation in the border regions remains tense.

At present, the situation on the state border with Belarus and the Russian Federation is stable. She remains tense. The likelihood of provocations is high, given that Wagner mercenaries are currently stationed in Belarus. However, at the moment we do not see any special provocations or additional activity on the border with Belarus and the Russian Federation.

- said Rustam Lyubaev.

The head of the State Border Service of Lithuania stressed that 4,5 thousand fighters of the Wagner PMC are currently in Belarus.

There are not many of them near our border. Today, their concentration is possible on the territory of Belarus, and there are also a little more of them near Brest. But, nevertheless, the possibility of these provocations exists at our border.

- admitted the main border guard of Lithuania.

He acknowledged that the exercises, which the fighters of the “orchestra” conduct together with the units of the Belarusian army, do not pose a threat to the national security of Lithuania. But despite this, Vilnius intends to increase the number of troops on the border with Belarus.

Appropriate decisions have been made. In the near future we plan to increase our contingent on the border with Belarus

- said Rustam Lyubaev.

Let us add that earlier it became known that Poland intends to transfer another thousand soldiers to the border with Belarus.
