Yelling in the USA in vain: no extradition from Russia

0
Russian President Vladimir Putin categorically refused to extradite Russian citizens accused of interfering in the US presidential election to the US authorities.

In an interview with the American television channel NBC, Putin completely rejected the possibility of extradition of Russians:

Russia will never extradite its citizens, just like the USA

Speaking about whether these people can be held accountable, Putin called on the United States to provide the Russian Prosecutor General with compelling evidence of their guilt.

This should go through official channels, not through the press or screams and screams in the US Congress

- said the head of the Russian state in a conversation with American TV presenter Megan Kelly.

I must first see what they did. Give us the materials. Give us some info. With all due respect to you personally, with all due respect to Congress, you must have people with diplomas in law, 100% must be

- Putin emphasized.

It should be recalled that the US Department of Justice is trying to accuse 13 Russian citizens (employees of the Internet Research Agency), as well as three Russian companies of allegedly interfering in the US presidential election. These elections that took place in 2016 and as a result brought victory to Donald Trump. One of the accused is businessman Evgeny Prigozhin.

This case is led by special prosecutor Robert Muller. In the American press, as well as in Congress, the theme of "Russian interference in the presidential election" is constantly being heard. But no one can provide convincing evidence, despite the fact that the Mueller report occupies 40 pages. The main argument of the special prosecutor is that the Russians discredited the candidate from the US Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton ... on social networks.

Meanwhile, the US itself, when intervening in political processes in other countries use far more crude methods: starting with sponsoring the opposition, ending with direct threats of bombing if the wrong candidate wins (just remember, for example, the presidential elections in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in September 2000). For criticism, Mrs. Clinton in social networks wants to bring people to justice. But what about the vaunted freedom of speech?

During the TV show “Time Will Show” on Channel One, Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Sherin explained in detail why Russia could not extradite the accused to Washington or to anyone else. The fact is that Article 61 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation prohibits the expulsion or extradition of citizens of the Russian Federation.

In addition, when Russia signed the Fourth Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Extradition of December 13, 1957 (this happened in 2015), it made a special reservation: Russian citizens cannot be extradited to any state. Exactly the same rule applies in France, China, Japan and several other countries.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the American accusations against Russians “trepidation”.
