The US tried to humiliate Russia in space?

About the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway project, which should become an integral part of the future international inhabited near-moon station, we mentioned earlier. Then we found out the state of affairs at the Zvezda research and development enterprise related to the development of new spacesuits for going into outer space.

And now it turned out that Russia's participation in the Gateway project, which involves the creation of a gateway module, is humiliating for the country. About this in an interview with the agency RIA News said Director General of NPP Zvezda Sergey Pozdnyakov.

The previous management of Roscosmos gave the go-ahead to the manufacture of a gateway module, which was surprising for many - making an empty barrel for Americans, of course, is humiliating. The new leadership said that it would not do, and we will independently explore the moon

- Pozdnyakov pointed out responsibly and hopefully.

But after such a statement, several logical questions appeared. Does Pozdnyakov have the right to comment on behalf of the state-owned corporation Roscosmos, including on behalf of Dmitry Rogozin? This is doubtful, since NPP Zvezda is part of the Technodinamika holding, which, in turn, is part of the Russian Technologies state corporation (Rostec). And what does NPP Zvezda have to do with the aforementioned gateway? After all, it is known that the enterprise since 1952 specializes in the development of spacesuits, ejection chairs, various products for emergency rescue of people (vests, fire extinguishers, etc.), climbing and medical equipment. The creation of the gateway should be dealt with by Roscosmos, and specifically RSC Energia.

It should be noted that in September 2018, the head of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin really said that Russia would not participate in the Gateway project in the background.

The Russian Federation cannot afford to participate in secondary roles.

He said, not particularly delving into details.

After which Rogozin added that the lunar station could be created jointly with the BRICS countries. However, since then no news has been received from BRICS, and the international structure itself has somehow been lost in the information space of the planet. It is not even known whether there was any appeal from Roskosmos to the mentioned group of countries, or rather to the authorities authorized there. But after that, publications appeared in the information space of Russia in the style of "The United States humiliated Russia with a lunar contract." So let's see how great this "humiliation" is. After all, all the information is publicly available.

So, in the international Gateway project, responsibilities are (so far) distributed as follows. The United States, represented by NASA, must create parts of the station’s modules, the SLS super-heavy launch vehicle, the Orion manned spacecraft, and commercial transport ships.

Russia, represented by Roskosmos, can create not one module, but much more (at least three) if there is money. Moreover, the lock and residential are considered the most developed (but this is not a fact). In addition, no one objects if Roscosmos builds a transformer module, an additional energy module, a universal docking mechanism for the Angara-A5 heavy launch vehicle, the Proton-M universal launch vehicle, an ultra-heavy class launch vehicle and a manned reusable spacecraft Federation". Is this not enough?

The European Space Agency has been instructed to create a transport ship with the Arien-6 launch vehicle. Plus, they can build modules or participate in joint work with NASA (see above) so as not to strain financially. Japan will create an HTV-X module and transport ship with an H3 launch vehicle. Canada will create robotic systems. It seems they didn’t miss anything.

It is necessary to recall a few statements, very authoritative, competent and respected Russians in this regard. For example, the representative of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky, Alexander Zheleznyakov, is very cautious about Rogozin’s statement.

I believe that Russia should not leave the international project, which is a continuation of the International Space Station project. Relationships have been developed along it, there are legal bases for interaction and communication experience between partners, and creating everything anew is more expensive, longer, but not always more effective

- concluded Zheleznyakov, who sees no point in the fact that the whole country would tighten their belts and tear up the navels.

At that time, cosmonaut Oleg Kotov said that at present the Russian crew on the ISS consists of two, not three, as before, due to the lack of funds to launch the Progress cargo ships.

... there are legal bases for cooperation between partners ...
... and creating everything anew is more expensive ....

Does the representative of the K.E. Tsiolkovsky Russian Academy of Cosmonautics Alexander Zheleznyakov live in a vacuum? Or is he so naive from childhood?
Yes, the Americans wanted to spit on any "legal basis" if these foundations are at odds with their interests.
And there is money in the country without Americans.
Return natural resources under state control and there will be where to get the money. And in space, and in retirement, and other necessary and useful things.
