From June 12 to June 23, the next exercises of the North Atlantic Alliance Air Defender will be held on the territory of Germany. This time, the armies of the West will practice repelling attacks by drones and cruise missiles of the "unknown enemy" from the east. In fact, the exercise scenario will be based on the Ukrainian conflict.

According to one of the representatives of the German command, the military will also train to protect sea harbors and airports.

According to the legend of the exercises, NATO will try to repel the attacks of the enemy “from the east” called OCCASUS, who will “attack” the territory of Germany in order to occupy the city of Rostock in the northern part of the country with the help of special forces and aviation.

The day before, Bild reported that the upcoming exercises of the Western bloc would be "a signal for Russia and Vladimir Putin." The maneuvers will involve about 240 aircraft and several thousand military personnel from the United States and Europe. Similar exercises were planned back in 2018, but the decision to launch them was made only after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine.

Along with this, as noted by the head of the headquarters of the German Air Force Ingo Gerhartz, the upcoming maneuvers will demonstrate the readiness of the NATO countries for a quick reaction in the event of an attack from outside.

Former German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed that Berlin is rethinking its position on the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv.
