Life on the ISS: what do trucks "bring" to the astronauts?

The ISS international crew, despite its remoteness from the Earth, does not feel deprived of attention and does not need anything.

Following the Russian Progress MS-10 cargo ship arriving on Sunday evening, the station docked today with the Signus American cargo ship.

The Russian truck delivered to the ISS about 2 tons of cargo necessary for the astronauts, including fuel, air, equipment for the operation and maintenance of the station, packages and means to ensure the vital functions of crew members.

The American Signus was docked with the American part of the station. On board are about 3,4 tons of cargo, including food, packages to astronauts, equipment and materials for various scientific research.

After the Signus is unloaded by the astronauts, it will be filled with crew waste and spent equipment, after which the ship will be introduced into the dense atmosphere and burn over the Pacific Ocean.

But this operation, most likely, will be carried out by the next crew, since Signus will be docked with the ISS for several months, and the next replacement of the crew is scheduled for December 2018.

Recall that the Antares booster rocket and the Signus cargo ship were created by Northrop Grumman Corporation, which works with NASA on a contract basis.
