Rogozin: robots cannot replace people in space

Despite the fact that Russia is one of the leaders in the development and creation of robots for space, however, the robot will not be able to completely replace a person in this area.

This opinion was expressed by the head of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin. In his opinion, this is due to the fact that only a person can manage the subject he created and conduct basic scientific research:

No supercomputers can replace it for one simple reason - a person is not just a laboratory assistant who serves research machines. Man is a creator, a researcher

The head of the state corporation noted that we are not talking about refusing to use robotics, especially when exploring deep space or in situations where there is a real threat to human life, such as when working in outer space.

Dmitry Rogozin explained that he was encouraged to express his opinion by “near-space sofa experts” who object to manned flights and the participation of people in the ISS, suggesting that they be completely replaced by controlled robots or robots programmed for independent decision-making.

In addition, the head of Roscosmos believes that in case of unforeseen situations, only a person can make a non-trivial decision, which will be the only right one.
