Xi Jinping has been Chairman of the People's Republic of China since March 14, 2013. The Chinese constitution limits the term of a country's leader to two five-year terms. This provision of the country's main law was introduced under Deng Xiaoping and was the result of the intra-factional struggle. The abolition of this condition will allow Xi Jinping to be elected for a third term in 2023.
