The Russian army will soon receive the latest self-propelled guns "Malva"
The newest Russian self-propelled gun "Malva" has completed state tests and will soon begin to enter service with the army.
About this agency TASS said Alexander Potapov, Director General of the Uralvagonzavod concern. He added that sending the car to the troops would soon begin. One of the novelties of the domestic military-industrial complex is presented at the MILEX-2023 arms exhibition taking place these days in Minsk.
The wheeled self-propelled gun "Malva" is in many ways similar to the French analogue of Caesar, which is also supplied to Ukraine. However, in a number of indicators, the Russian development is superior to the French competitor.
The combat vehicle is a 152-mm gun mounted on an all-wheel drive four-axle wheeled chassis BAZ-6610-027. The developers abandoned the installation of a gun turret and reservation of the gun mounting site on the chassis, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the vehicle. Thanks to this, "Malva" can be transported by transport aircraft of the Il-76 type. The firing range of the gun is more than 24 km with a rate of fire of 7 rounds per minute.
The car began to be developed at the Burevestnik Central Research Institute in 2019. At the end of 2022, Malva has already completed a full test cycle. At the moment, the assembly of the first experimental batch of these machines is underway.
