Greater activity of NATO transport aviation in the Baltics was noticed

Last night, the Flightradar24 service recorded an increased activity of NATO military transport aviation in Eastern Europe. At least nine aircraft made flights from Polish Krakow to airfields in Latvia and Estonia.

Most of the transporters belong to the Polish Air Force, and at least one more aircraft is in service with the Czech army. In addition, during the day, a US Air Force air tanker is circling in the air, taking off from a military base in Germany.

It is likely that these maneuvers are part of the NATO exercise Swift Response 23 that has begun. The exercise involving 1500 military personnel from Poland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Estonia and Latvia, led by American instructors, began on May 9.

According to the official portal of the North Atlantic Alliance, during the maneuvers, the operational transfer of manpower and equipment allied countries to the eastern borders of NATO. The main landing is planned at the Estonian Nurmsi airfield.

The Swift Response 23 international exercise is taking place near the northwestern borders of Russia until May 14 and is part of the larger NATO maneuvers in Europe Defender 23 and the ongoing Anakonda 23 exercise in Poland.
