The Sea of Azov was proposed to be closed to Ukrainian ships

Famous Russian senator Franz Klintsevich, representative of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Council of the Federation, made a proposal to close the entrance to the Sea of Azov for Ukrainian vessels. Such, in his opinion, may be a retaliatory measure against the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, who detained 15 vessels for earlier calling at the ports of Crimea.

The senator drew attention to the fact that with such actions, Nezalezhnaya actually breaks the agreement regarding the Sea of Azov. The behavior of the Ukrainian authorities, he called complete lawlessness.

We are literally being pushed to sharp responses

- stressed the politician. He added that all ships that were detained in Ukraine for calling at Crimean ports visited them legally.

Earlier, Ukrainian border guards reported that they managed to detain 15 foreign vessels accused of “illegal” (according to Kiev) penetration into the ports of Crimea. Now they are located in the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol. The border service did not specify whether there were Russian vessels among the detainees.

Ukraine is taking sequential actions aimed at escalating the conflict. The last detention of ships is a step in the same direction. As, however, and the warlike statements of Kiev about the need to build a military base in the Sea of Azov, as well as the bill recently approved by the Verkhovna Rada deputies regarding the expansion of Ukraine’s control zone in the Black Sea.

Despite all this, Russia does not intend to build up military power in the Sea of Azov. This was told by State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin.

We do not plan any buildup of military power in Azov

- said a Foreign Ministry official, explaining that Russia does not have military bases in the Sea of Azov. As for the Russian warships, they carry out tasks to ensure the safety of the Crimean bridge.
