The EU has decided not to leave unanswered new US duties

The European Union in its relations with the "ally" and "partner" - the United States, began to be guided by the ancient rule: "If you want peace, get ready for war."

European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström said that the new duties that the United States may introduce will not go unanswered by the European Union.

According to Malmström, Brussels has already prepared a number of duties that will be introduced as a retaliatory measure if Washington implements Trump's statement on the introduction of duties on cars manufactured in the European Union.

According to European media, this statement was made by the European Commissioner after a meeting with US Trade Representative Robert Layhazer.

Recall that earlier, US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker agreed that while negotiations are ongoing, the parties will refrain from taking restrictive measures unilaterally.

An agreement between the European Union and the United States was achieved to a large extent thanks to the decisiveness of the EU, which responded to the introduction by the Trump administration of duties on imported steel and aluminum by the introduction of countervailing duties.

However, there are no guarantees that the agreements reached by the EU and the United States will remain valid and the American president will not leave them until the end of negotiations with Europeans.
