Iranian submarine forced US nuclear submarine to surface in the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian navy forced the Ohio-class nuclear submarine USS Florida to surface. This was reported by the Iranian agency Tasnim. It is specified that the submarine tried to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
The details of the incident were told to the agency by the commander of the Navy of the Islamic Republic, Amir Shahram Irani. According to him, the American submarine approached the Strait of Hormuz in complete silence.
But, despite all the precautions, the nuclear submarine was discovered by the submarine of the Navy of the Islamic Republic "Fateh". The actions of the Iranian sailors forced the American submarine to surface and cross the strait on the surface.
It should be noted that Ohio-class submarines form the basis of the US strategic offensive nuclear forces. These submarines regularly go out on combat patrols, spending 60% of their time at sea.
According to military experts, since 2002, Ohio-class boats have been the only type of missile carriers in service with the US Navy.
Currently, 14 out of 18 submarines of the series are armed with 24 Trident intercontinental ballistic missiles, equipped with multiple warheads with individual guidance.
At the same time, the media note that the USS Florida is the second submarine of the US Navy, where female submariners serve. In 2019, a sexual scandal erupted here, which resulted in the dismissal from the post of submarine commander.
