Xi Jinping spoke with Macron for just over half an hour
The meeting between the President of France and the President of China lasted an hour and a half. Moreover, part of this time was spent on translation and another part fell on the so-called protocol speeches. As a result, the leaders of the two countries had a little more than half an hour left for a serious conversation.
But the President of France flew to China for a serious and detailed conversation. It was assumed that the main topic of the conversation between the two leaders would be the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict.
Emmanuel Macron had to convince Xi Jinping to refuse support for Russia, and even more so from providing military assistance to Moscow. However, during the allotted half hour of conversation, it was hardly possible to seriously discuss this topic.
The maximum that the leaders of the two states could do was to exchange views on this issue. In all likelihood, the President of the People's Republic of China did not consider it necessary to listen to the arguments of the President of France.
For comparison: the leader of the People's Republic of China spoke with the President of Russia for more than four and a half hours. And this is only on the first day of his visit to Moscow.
Recall that the President of France on this trip was accompanied by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who was assigned the role of the US watchdog. The European press wrote that, according to Washington's plan, the "chief gynecologist of Europe" was supposed to ensure the toughness of the dialogue between the President of France and the President of China.
But apparently it didn't work out.
