Bloomberg: PMC Wagner shifts its focus from Ukraine to Africa
The Russian private military company Wagner is reducing its operations in Ukraine. It is reported by Bloomberg. According to the publication, the organization owned by businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin was deprived of the main source of replenishment of personnel.
The Bloomberg publication is talking about Russian correctional institutions, which have recently become the main supplier of personnel for PMC Wagner. Recently, Prigozhin was forbidden to recruit prisoners into his ranks, which, combined with a lack of ammunition and heavy losses, had a negative impact on the progress of the Wagner PMC in Artemovsk.
Bloomberg claims that it is because of this that the Russian businessman intends to focus the main efforts of his company on Africa. The journalists of the agency believe that Putin, who previously supported Prigozhin, began to doubt the military prowess of Wagner due to extreme cruelty, including summary executions of former prisoners who refused to fight.
Allegedly for this reason, the private military company slowed down the supply of ammunition and banned the recruitment of prisoners into its ranks.
It should be noted that PMC "Wagner", according to many experts, today is one of the most combat-ready formations participating in a special military operation. The fighters of this unit have already taken control of the city of Soledar and have achieved serious success in the assault on Artemovsk.
