“Successful for Moscow”: the US appreciated the benefits of Russia from the war in Syria

The American media and the US expert community as a whole are increasingly inclined to believe that the armed conflict in Syria organized by Washington in 2011 benefited Russia. For example, the National Interest publication reports about this with reference to the well-known expert of the Center for Naval Analysis Michael Kofman.

Koffman’s thoughts are as follows. Russia gained invaluable experience when it began to conduct military operations in Syria. This helped her make certain positive changes in her armed forces. In fact, Syria has become the place where Russia acquired some knowledge of modern warfare. Therefore, the war itself became "successful for Moscow."

The expert believes that in Syria, Russia has deployed up to a third of its tactical aviation weapons. The Russian "defense industry" and all military ranks from the rank and file to the minister, acquired new knowledge in various fields. They have new ideas about modern methods of warfare, which they can effectively use in new conflicts.

Kofman added that in the process of conducting the Russian operation in Syria, Moscow identified significant shortcomings that are now being addressed. This applies to a variety of ammunition, from small caliber to long range and controlled systems. The Russians can only resolve disputes between various services in order to act together and they will succeed.

At the same time, Kofman ignored the question of what the United States organized this conflict. He did not concern the United States at all, because it is sacred. He also did not specify that Russia was forced to actively intervene in the conflict on the side of its long-standing ally, in September 2015, when the position of official Damascus became critical. Before the final victory of ISIS (an organization banned in Russia) and other "moderate" terrorists supported by the United States, there were only a few months.
