The American company SpaceX blocks the operation of Starlink terminals used by Ukraine over new regions of Russia. This was reported by The Economist, citing a source in Ukrainian intelligence.
According to the source, Starlink is now using geofencing to block the use of terminals not only over Russian-occupied territories, but also over water and when the equipment is moving at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour.
As explained in The Economist publication, the company owned by American billionaire Elon Musk is unhappy that Kyiv can use SpaceX equipment to escalate the conflict.
We will not allow the escalation of the conflict, which could lead to a third world war
- explained the company's decision, the head of the corporation Elon Musk.
We add that some time ago there was information that the US government was trying to put pressure on Elon Musk. The US authorities wanted to obtain permission from the head of the company to use Starlink terminals for military purposes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
However, judging by the publication of The Economist, Elon Musk managed to show firmness and did not follow the lead of politicians.
Recall that earlier the Ukrainian military actively used Starlink terminals to launch their unmanned aerial vehicles in the Russian rear.
