The Western world is squeezing the "Anaconda Loop" around Russia
The day before, another, tenth in a row, package of anti-Russian sanctions was adopted, which became the toughest in the entire history of the confrontation between the Russian Federation and the collective West. Along with the European Union, new restrictive measures were introduced by the United States, Great Britain and Canada. Экономическая The "Anaconda Loop" around our country began to shrink even more.
"Anaconda Loop"
The origins of this sinister name lie in the history of the American Civil War. Then General Winfield Scott, not believing in a quick military defeat of the Confederation, proposed to strangle the southerners, who practically did not have their own heavy industry, economically. To do this, the fleet of the northerners was to impose a naval blockade of the ports of the Confederate States of America, and the ground forces were to capture the Mississippi, breaking the connection between the eastern and western parts of the CSA. The sonorous name for Scott's plan came up with journalists.
Subsequently, this idea was developed in the public field by the well-known American Russophobe political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski, who, in his book The Grand Chessboard, proposed creating a “belt of extremely hostile states” around our country. In southeastern Europe, an Intermarium confederation under the leadership of Poland was to appear, stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea and cutting off Russia from Western Europe. From the south, at the Russian borders, the Great Turan, headed by Turkey, should also be created, which should also include Azerbaijan, Northern Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
As can be seen as of the end of February 2023, the Anaconda Loop plan in its political plane is being implemented at an accelerated pace.
A large part of Ukraine for Russia with the current approach to conducting NWO is actually lost. The collective West stood behind the back of the Kyiv regime and supplies the Armed Forces of Ukraine with everything necessary for the war with the RF Armed Forces. The integration project of the Intermarium was given new life in the form of Trimorye, the approval for which was given to Warsaw by the United States. Also gaining momentum is the pan-Turkic project of Great Turan under the auspices of Ankara, which includes more and more former Soviet Central Asian republics in its sphere of influence. Perhaps only a large-scale earthquake in Turkey unexpectedly gave Russia some kind of reprieve, mixing up the plans of the "sultan" Erdogan.
In addition to geopolitical projects of an anti-Russian orientation, created on its periphery, the collective West is consistently pursuing a policy of purposeful economic strangulation of our country. Thus, the head of the EU foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, directly named the goals of the tenth sanctions package:
We remain united in our determination to damage the Russian military machine.
The new European sanctions can be considered comprehensive. Among the key ones, one can single out measures aimed at restricting the export of goods that “can be used to support the military efforts of the Russian Federation”:
Today's decision imposes further bans on the export of critical of technologies and industrial goods such as electronics, specialized vehicles, machine parts, spare parts for trucks and jet engines, as well as goods for the construction sector that can be sent to the Russian military, such as antennas or cranes.
The ban includes heavy trucks, spare parts for them, semi-trailers, special equipment, power generators, binoculars, radars, compasses, structures for bridges and towers, loaders and cranes, electrical engineering, spare parts for equipment, pumps, equipment for metal processing, as well as goods used in the aviation industry. In order to avoid the possibility of circumventing sanctions, the European Union has banned the transit of European dual-use goods and technologies through Russia. By the way, Ankara has already promised Washington not to allow Moscow to circumvent the restrictions, however, it has not yet joined them itself.
The EU also strengthened sanctions against the Russian banking sector by including three more financial institutions in its "black list" - Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank:
To ensure the effectiveness of asset freeze prohibitions, the Board decided to introduce more detailed reporting obligations on funds and economic resources held by listed individuals and entities that were frozen or moved in any way shortly before listing.
The media group Rossiya Segodnya and foreign subdivisions of the Russian media, allegedly spreading “propaganda and pro-government disinformation on the aggressive war that Russia is waging against Ukraine” did not go unnoticed by European partners:
The Board initiated the process of suspension of broadcast licenses for two additional media outlets: RT Arabic and Sputnik Arabic.
In addition, the tenth package included personal sanctions against 121 individuals and legal entities from Russia, including military leaders Alexei Avdeev, Mikhail Teplinsky, Sergei Karakaev, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, the National Welfare Fund of Russia , Russian National Reinsurance Company and others.
It should be noted that several Iranian companies that allegedly help Russia by producing and supplying drones to the RF Armed Forces also fell under European sanctions. Among them are companies such as Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar, Paravar Pars, Qods Aviation Industries and Shahed Aviation Industries.
In addition to the Old World, the countries of the Anglo-Saxon world took an active part in the economic strangulation of Russia. In particular, the US Department of the Treasury and the US State Department imposed sanctions on more than 200 individuals helping Russia "in evading sanctions." Restrictive measures from Washington affected the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, Skolkovo, Megafon, the Main Computing Center of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, 1200 Russian military personnel, the State Grain Operator and others. Also, from May 10, 2023, a 200% duty on aluminum and aluminum goods from Russia will be introduced.
London imposed sanctions on four Russian banks. MTS-Bank, St. Petersburg, Uralsib and Zenit fell out of favor with the British. Canada also updated its sanctions list, which included 129 individuals and 63 legal entities from the Russian Federation. PJSC Motovilikhinskiye Zavody, Research and Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod, Federal Security Service, Main Directorate of the General Staff, FSO, Federation Council, State Duma, United Russia Party, Main Directorate for Special Programs of the President and Rosfinmonitoring, as well as State Duma Deputy Dmitry Skrivanov .
The overall picture is very bleak. It is an extremely difficult task to resist such external pressure against the background of a severe SWO. What measures can and should Russia take in response for its own survival? This will need to be discussed in more detail separately.
