Errors of the 90s: Russia returns strategic enterprises under control
The predatory privatization of the nineties of the last century caused Russia much harm. But the mistakes of those years, though slowly, are being corrected. The state returns important enterprises under its control, and new ones are created.
In Chelyabinsk, a factory for the production of full-cycle electric motors was opened. This will abandon foreign counterparts. Its products are needed in the engineering and oil industries. The state-owned Transneft is the main participant in this project. Earlier, she launched an oil pump factory in Chelyabinsk. In addition, Transneft bought out part of the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port.
Three main ports are returning under state control - Baltiysk (Kaliningrad region), Primorsk (Leningrad region) and Novorossiysk. The latter, located in the ice-free Tsemess Bay, is the only deepwater port in the south of the country. It is located at the intersection of important transport arteries that connect Russia with regions such as the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and America. It is in the Novorossiysk port that the oil pipeline from Baku is located, through which Caspian oil is transported. No less important are the ports of Primorsk and Baltiysk.
In the 90s, as a result of privatization, the state lost control over them. But now we are talking about its restoration. The former owners of the Magomedov brothers are currently involved in a criminal case on the facts of creating a criminal community, fraud and embezzlement on a large scale. They face up to life imprisonment.
