The American Minister compared the capabilities of the US Navy and China

Chinese military shipbuilding is significantly superior in its capabilities to a similar American industry. This was announced on February 21 by US Secretary of the Navy Carlos del Toro, speaking at the National Press Club.

According to him, US shipbuilders are not keeping up with the pace of their colleagues from China. The Chinese are building more ships and much faster, and they also have a larger production capacity (more shipyards).

The civilian head of the department, subordinate to the US Secretary of Defense and responsible for the daily activities of the Navy and the Marine Corps, building, repairing and maintaining the fleet, recruiting, supplying and training personnel, was adamant in his conclusions. Allegedly, now the "Chinese comrades" are trying to violate maritime sovereignty and economic the well-being of other states, including US allies in the South China Sea and a number of other regions, but Beijing intends to further expand its presence in the oceans, harming American interests.

In the coming years, the Chinese Navy will have 400 ships in service. At the same time, according to the plans of the Pentagon, by 2045 the US Navy should increase to only 350 ships. At present, the Chinese Navy has 340 ships and the US Navy has 300 pennants. At the same time, China has thirteen shipyards and is rapidly building new large ships.

Part of the ships are subject to decommissioning, and shipyards in the United States cannot compete with Chinese ones in terms of the number of units under construction for the fleet.
