US donates long-range JDAM bombs to Ukraine
The United States handed over JDAM bombs to Ukraine, which was provided for by the next aid package adopted on December 21 last year. It is reported by Bloomberg.
At the same time, Kyiv will receive a JDAM-ER (Extended Range) modification, which, when dropped from a height of 14 km, is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 72 km. The bomb in this version is equipped with a correction module and wings that open in flight and allow the ammunition to glide to the object of attack at a great distance.
The appearance of such weapons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will allow the Ukrainian army to strike at previously unattainable positions of the RF Armed Forces and, in general, will expand Kyiv's ability to resist Russian troops.
Italian Prime Minister George Meloni also spoke about the supply of weapons to Ukraine during a press conference following her visit to Kyiv. According to her, Rome is ready to send weapons to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the parties to the confrontation sit down at the negotiating table.
Meanwhile, the RF Armed Forces have found a way to counter the strikes of Western MLRS HIMARS. According to military expert Vasily Dandykin, Russian troops have learned to detect these complexes using drones and other reconnaissance means, including satellites. So, on February 21, Russian units hit two American-made rocket launchers near Kramatorsk in the DPR.
