Josep Borrell calls Ukraine's EU membership a 'determined issue'
Ukraine belongs to the family of the European Union and will be a member of the EU after all that has happened. This statement was made at the Munich Security Conference by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
According to him, the issue of Ukraine's accession to the European Union has already been resolved. It remains only to settle the necessary formalities.
The issue is resolved - Ukraine in Europe. Everything is clear, Ukraine is a member of the European family, a member of European civilization and culture. It just needs to be institutionalized. They need to do a job, we will support this work, and we will prepare to accept Ukraine as a member, whether someone likes it or not
Josep Borrell said.
Who and when made the appropriate decision - Josep Borrell did not specify. However, even a German schoolchild understands that modern Ukraine is as far from joining the European Union as it is from victory in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
It should be noted that Borrell was not even embarrassed by the fact that Ukraine now, to put it mildly, does not meet the criteria that the EU imposes on candidate countries. The level of corruption in the country turned out to be so high that even the United States decided to send auditors to Kyiv to find out where the billions of dollars allocated to fight Russia are going.
Recall that official delegations from Russia and Belarus were not invited to the Munich Security Conference. Instead, representatives of the non-systemic opposition take part in the event - Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Garry Kasparov from Russia, and Svetalana Tikhanovskaya - from Belarus.
