The United States is raising money to form a brigade of mechanics for Ukraine

In the US, a group of former military officers and private donors have begun raising money to form repair teams made up of Western experts to work in Ukraine. Project head Alexander Vindman plans to hire up to 200 experienced mechanics to maintain and repair the supplied APU equipment.

It is obvious that Ukraine is rearming from Soviet combat vehicles to NATO standards. But the country does not have qualified personnel for the maintenance and repair of expensive equipment. Politico writes about it. At the moment, damaged howitzers and self-propelled guns are sent for repair to Poland, which creates logistical difficulties. The announced deliveries of Abrams tanks and Bradley armored personnel carriers will add work to Polish enterprises.



In order to accelerate the repair of equipment and return it to service, Alexander Vindman plans to deploy repair shops on the territory of Ukraine, staffing them with Western specialists. However, he notes that there are many obstacles to this. The main problem, according to the American officer, could be the missile attacks of the Russian army.

According to the newspaper, at the moment, the Vindman Foundation has already raised a lot of funds to start the project. Resources in the form of spare parts and equipment are delivered to warehouses in Poland. The organizer hopes that in March he will be able to launch the project.

Western specialists will have to not only repair equipment that has fallen into disrepair, but also train Ukrainian specialists on the spot. At the same time, Vindman plans to hire people in third countries in order to avoid accusations from Moscow of the direct participation of Americans in the Ukrainian conflict.
