The two main risks of Nord Stream 2

0
There are two factors that could impede the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project. This is the failure to obtain a building permit from Denmark and US sanctions. So says the head of the board of OMV AG Rainer Seele. This company is one of the five western partner companies of Gazprom leading the construction of the pipeline.

At the moment, permits have already been obtained from the authorities of the four countries through which the pipeline will pass. These are Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany. Only Denmark remains. There is no reason to expect her to refuse, because this country gave the go-ahead for the construction of Nord Stream-1.

The United States is more likely to impose sanctions. Everyone knows that the United States from the very beginning tried to interfere with the financing of the project.

Despite the existing risks, the construction of the pipeline continues according to schedule. To date, 108 kilometers of pipes for the new gas pipeline have already been laid; installation will continue further.

OMV AG has already invested 531 million euros out of the planned 950 million in the project. Four other European companies will finance the same amount, amounting to 4,75 billion euros. These investments account for half of the total project cost. The rest is invested by Gazprom.
