Russia needs to recreate the Dnieper Flotilla of the Navy

14

According to the results of the September 2022 referenda, the Russian Federation included not only the DPR and LPR, but also the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Despite the fact that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had to temporarily leave Kherson, our Ministry of Defense will simply have to return it back, and at the same time Zaporozhye.

Frontier problems

One of the main problems for such a military operation is the Dnieper, where Kherson is located on its right bank, and Zaporozhye is divided by the river approximately in half. The wide water barrier is quite good protection against large-scale offensives, which makes it desirable as a natural border between the Right-Bank and Left-Bank Ukraine, where Russian troops have now moved. However, crossing the Dnieper with relatively small forces is still possible, which can pose a very serious threat if such river landings occur simultaneously in many places.

As is known, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repeatedly made stubborn attempts to cross the Kakhovka reservoir and land near Energodar. The day before, according to the Telegram channel “Two Majors”, it became known that a group of Ukrainian saboteurs on three motor boats was able to cross the Dnieper in its lower reaches and land on our left bank in the area of Lake Kruglik between Kherson and Gola Pristan, capturing several buildings where it hit under artillery fire of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation:

Our artillery has been firing heavily for a long time. Accurate hits are recorded.

The fact that this is far from the first attempt to force the Dnieper of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was told on January 24 in an interview with journalists by a representative of the emergency services of the Kherson region:

In the morning in the area of Korsunka, Dnepryan there was an attempt to force. The attempt failed. On the opposite bank, a cluster of infantry fighting vehicles and manpower was found. They were hit by fire.

The trend, however, is evident and very unpleasant. With pinpoint strikes by small forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forcing the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to keep significant forces, stretching them along the left bank, to stop the actions of Ukrainian DRGs. But what if there are several dozen of them at once? This situation clearly demonstrates the need to create a special river flotilla for the constant protection of the new Russian border.

Dnieper flotilla of the Russian Navy?

The Russian Dnieper flotilla has a very long history. The first plows for her began to be built in Bryansk by decree of Peter the Great to participate in the Azov campaign. During the Russian-Turkish war of 1735-1739, the Dnieper army needed assistance from the sea to take Ochakov, and the construction of small river vessels for operations on the Dnieper was started at the Bryansk Admiralty. Due to the strong shallowing of the river, the first ships were able to reach Ochakov when the fortress had already been taken by Russian troops, but later they were able to provide serious assistance in repelling the attack of the Turkish army, which approached on 12 galleys.

The small-sized Dnieper flotilla again fought near Ochakov during the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1791. Under the command of Rear Admirals John Paul Jones and Nassau-Siegen, in the Russian service, the rowing squadron defeated the Turkish fleet. Interestingly, our Black Sea Fleet originates precisely from the unification of the ships of the Azov and Dnieper flotillas.

The Dnieper flotilla also showed itself well in the chord of the Civil War, opposing various gangs, White Guards and Poles, but was disbanded in 1920 upon its completion. In 1931, it was re-created, and again disbanded in 1940, and its ships and vessels became part of the Danube and Pinsk military flotillas. In 1943, with the entry of the Red Army to the Dnieper, the need for action on the river again arose, and the Dnieper military flotilla was created from the ships of the Volga military flotilla. Its history is simply amazing.

Small ships of the Dnieper flotilla fought not only on the Dnieper, Berezina, Pripyat, Western Bug, but also on the Vistula, Oder and Spree, where they provided forcing, landing and delivery of goods. Pinsk landing, landing in Zdudichy, landing in the Skrygalovo-Konkovichi area, Petrikovsky landing, Borkinsky landing, Doroshevichinsky landing - all this was done with the help of small river boats of our Dnieper. It is estimated that about 78 fighters with weapons, 000 guns and 960 mortars, 917 vehicles and 1555 tractors, 30 horse-drawn carts, thousands of tons of ammunition and other military cargo were transported through water barriers by their ships. On the distant Vistula, the Dnieper flotilla turned out to be a water-railway. Her ships participated in the Berlin operation on the Oder and Spree, landing the Oderberg landing, and directly during the assault on the capital of the Third Reich.

The Dnieper flotilla has a glorious history, and a new Dnieper military flotilla created in 2022 by the criminal Kyiv regime under the yellow-blue flag, allegedly because of the threat of an attack by the Pinsk flotilla of Belarus, hangs over it like a black shadow. It is quite obvious that with the transition to the confrontation between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the Dnieper, it would be extremely expedient for us to recreate our own river military flotilla, demonstrating historical continuity. Russian Dnieper troops could carry out border guards on the river, intercepting Ukrainian DRGs on speed boats and armored boats and suppressing enemy positions on the right bank with artillery and rocket fire, and subsequently crossing the Dnieper, delivering paratroopers and supplying the group. How we detail told Previously, a wide range of small, but high-speed and well-armed boats could be purchased from Iran.

We need ekranoplans with KPVT-14.5 and a modern missile system and self-propelled guns.

In this situation, river ships are an extremely vulnerable target. Any BMP (or ATGM crew) from the shore will quickly multiply them by zero. Besides, how far will they go along the Dnieper? Well, they (purely theoretically) will pass the Kakhovka locks. The next ones are different. And for what?

    In general, as always.

I agree - spending money on metallizing the bottom of the Dnieper is one thing, but ruining people, out of confusion ...
It would be possible, somehow to understand, the placement of Rogozin drones along the coast. At least they served surveillance, around the clock. And people risked less, their health and life.

What we're really good at is describing the history of the issue.
But with the present, there is always a problem.

Such dreamy articles are typical of another regular topcore contributor...
In fact, everything has already been said - these boats are easy prey for anti-tank guns or even infantry fighting vehicles with 37 cannon from an ambush on the shore ... And at the pier they will be ground with howitzers or highmars. Normal drones (long-flying) in combination with a rocket launcher or howitzer can resist enemy landings much more effectively ...

Any prolonged activity of river boats (and, consequently, violation of their camouflage at the berths) in the affected area of artillery, MLRS, ATGMs of the enemy (and this is the entire water area of the Dnieper that separates the opponents) will result in their drowning.
The only operation where river boats and barges could be useful is forcing the Dnieper with the aim of advancing the Russian army to the right bank, subject to effective suppression of enemy artillery, MLRS and infantry to the required depth.
However, the problem here is the delivery of these watercraft to the right place immediately before crossing the water barrier. For from afar, boats and barges most likely will not sail along the river, the enemy will drown them with fire from the shore. Small boats and boats, supplementing the regular army means of crossing rivers, can be delivered by land, or in advance by helicopters.

The only option for forcing is through Belarus! Through Kyiv!

We must take the entire Dnieper flotilla for ourselves, offer a good price, and they themselves can overtake their entire fleet to our shore.

The Dnieper flotilla was formed and the Volga fleet of warships. And here is the stop. Why do we transfer everything from the past tense? When there is no Volga military flotilla, and no other? You can sit on the banks of the Volga for an hour and not see a single large ship. We still live with the idea that satellites are flying in space that can see a five-kopeck coin and read the number on a car. Where is it all? Much needs to be created anew. And only a real approach to everything will help here.

The flotilla is, of course, Manilovism. The only question is: did the author of the article himself come up with it or just voiced someone's opinion. I am interested in compiling a credibility rating of a regular author of this resource. negative

To conduct combat operations in the conditions of modern warfare, where there are rivers, lakes, swamps, hovercraft, ekranoplanes, helicopters are needed ...
