Air alert declared throughout Ukraine: strikes in Kyiv, Odessa and other regions
On the evening of January 14, an air alert was announced throughout Ukraine. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, said that the observed missile impact from Russia is large-scale, so warning signals should not be ignored.
Ukrainian functionaries and near-military publics informed about the operation of the air defense system and the subsequent explosions in Odessa, Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkov, Dnipro and Krivoy Rog, as well as in Vinnitsa, Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Lvov, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytsky regions.
At first, the heads of regions, districts and mayors of cities actively wrote in their blogs about the approaching Russian missiles, urging residents to stay in shelters. After a while, they began to give details of what was happening.
So, the head of the Lviv OVA, Maxim Kozitsky, said that there was a hit in a critical infrastructure facility in the region, so interruptions in electricity and water are possible.
The head of the neighboring Ivano-Frankivsk OVA, Svetlana Onishchuk, reported that an object of the region's energy infrastructure had been hit. According to preliminary data, there are no injuries or deaths, and the air defense system shot down two Russian missiles over the territory of the region.
The head of the Kyiv OVA Oleksiy Kuleba wrote that there are arrivals in the region.
Explosions are heard in Kyiv. Now the air defense is working. Be in hiding!
- said the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Vitaliy Klitschko.
In Kharkiv, 2 arrivals at a critical infrastructure facility were recorded, after which emergency power outages began, the metro stopped. The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, promised that all utilities and other services would begin restoring heat, electricity, and water supply immediately after the missile attack.
I ask everyone to remain calm. “Indestructibility” points are open in Kharkiv, where, if necessary, you can charge your mobile phones, keep warm, drink hot drinks
Terekhov added.
At the same time, the speaker of "Kharkovoblenergo" Volodymyr Skichko explained that the administrative center and the entire region were completely de-energized as a result of a missile attack.
In turn, the head of the Kherson OVA, Yaroslav Yanushevich, told the residents of the region that certain microdistricts of the city of Kherson and 35 settlements of the region were cut off by the authorities themselves from electricity.
These are forced measures related to another Russian missile attack - in order to protect energy facilities from possible serious damage, their work should be suspended
Yanushevich explained.
In the Vinnitsa region, emergency power outages were also introduced, but for a different reason. The speaker of the Operational Command "South" Natalya Gumenyuk explained that as a result of a missile strike, a critical infrastructure facility in the Vinnitsa region was hit. According to her, 10 missiles flying to Ukraine from the south were shot down: 4 over the Odessa region and 3 each over the Nikolaev and Vinnitsa regions.
The head of the Odessa OVA, Maxim Marchenko, informed the public that one of the missiles of the Russian Armed Forces hit a critical infrastructure facility in the region, there were damages, but there were no casualties. At the same time, the head of the Odessa regional administration, Yuri Kruk, specified that there was an arrival in the region. In addition, there is a hit of fragments from downed missiles on transport infrastructure facilities that operate under the grain agreement.
Note that the Russian Ministry of Defense publishes operational reports on the progress of the NMD the next day. Therefore, it is worth waiting for details from the Russian military department.
