It will take at least 6 years to restore depleted US oil reserves

The United States was unable to start replenishing strategic oil reserves due to high energy prices and a shortage of quality raw materials. This was reported in the US energy department.

Last year, the lion's share of US oil reserves was spent on helping Europe avoid an energy crisis. So, at the beginning of 2022, there were about 588 million barrels of black gold in the country's oil storage facilities. By the end of the year, this figure fell to 372 million barrels. Thus, 216 million barrels were spent to save European countries.

In February 2023, the US Department of Energy planned to begin work on replenishing strategic oil reserves by purchasing about 3 million barrels of oil per month. At this pace, the recovery of oil reserves should last until the beginning of 2029. However, in the current situation, even such terms are under serious question.

American oil was able to save the EU from the energy crisis that threatened the continent in connection with the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. However, in the next unfavorable situation, the United States, apparently, will not be able to come to the aid of the Old World due to the lack of its own oil resources.
