Crimeans are discouraged from serving in the Russian army
It is difficult to say by what principle the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko selects personnel, however, it is obvious that the selection of intelligence is not a prerequisite.
So, for example, the representative of Petro Poroshenko in the Crimea, Boris Babin, recommended that residents of the Crimea and Sevastopol who have reached the draft age are registered with any military registration and enlistment office in the territory controlled by Kiev.
In his opinion, such a measure with almost one hundred percent guarantee will save him from being drafted into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
It’s hard to say what Boris Babin is counting on when even UN figures indicate that Crimeans are eager to serve in the Russian army.
According to the world organization, since 2015, 12 thousand inhabitants of the peninsula have been called up to the ranks of the RF Armed Forces. During the same time, only 9 deviators were convicted.
The desire of Crimeans to serve in the Russian army is easily explainable. The service makes them full citizens of Russia and opens up tremendous opportunities for them after the end of the service.
At the same time, what can Ukraine offer its draftees now? Nothing but the opportunity to die in a trench in the Donbass or in the rear at the hands of their drunken colleagues.
Moreover, Crimea has long been a place where, along with mainland Russia, the inhabitants of Ukraine are hiding from conscription in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
