How much did Soviet weapons cost during World War II?

2
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation shared information on the cost of the Soviet military equipment, which was used during the Great Patriotic War. The head of the department of financial support of the defense department, Yevgeny Pronsky, said that according to the directives of the authorities, the prices for weapons and military equipment were frozen, and then they were constantly decreasing.

For example, the T-34 tank at the very beginning of the war cost 269 thousand Soviet rubles. In 1942, the price dropped to 193 thousand, and in the victorious 1945, its price was already 135 thousand rubles.

If you follow the dynamics of prices for IL-4 aircraft, then you can see the same trend. So, in 1941, it cost 800 thousand rubles, and by 1945 it had fallen in price by more than two times - up to 380 thousand.

Another example cited by Pronsky is the Shpagin submachine gun. At the beginning of the war, its cost was 500 rubles, the very next year it dropped to 400, and by the end of World War II it amounted to 148 rubles.

Thanks to such policy the USSR government managed to save about 50 billion rubles in the procurement of weapons and equipment.

Pronsky shared another secret of that war. Then there was a system of material incentives for the military. It was called "For Combat Work" and consisted in the fact that cash payments relied on destroyed German equipment. The orders under which these rules acted were classified as “Secret.”

So, on August 8, 1941, Stalin ordered to materially reward the pilots of the Baltic Fleet who launched air strikes against the German capital. They were given 2000 rubles each. On August 19, 1941, another secret order was issued: a reward was set for pilots in the amount of 1000 rubles for each enemy aircraft shot down in an air battle.

The rewards in aviation were not only material. If the pilot managed to bring down three Nazi fighters, then he was presented to the government award. If after that he drops three more planes, he will receive a second government award. Well, if you disable 10 enemy aircraft - this is the way to get the Golden Star of the Hero.

There were material incentives for the destruction of armored vehicles of the Nazis. The commander and gunner could receive 500 rubles for a damaged German tank, and the remaining members of the crew were rewarded with a bonus of 200 rubles.
