Moscow responded to Western intentions to strike Syria
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov made a statement that Moscow is concerned about the behavior of a number of countries (including the United States) that threaten to use force against Syria. This, Ryabkov pointed out, contradicts the recently adopted UN Security Council resolution No. 2401.
According to the Russian diplomat, the threats of using unlawful force against official Damascus, which sound from Washington, look "extremely alarming." Especially - against the background of how rhetoric against Syria, as well as against Russia, intensifies.
In this resolution, Ryabkov noted, the most important call is "to work intensively in finding the necessary solutions," addressed to the Syrian parties.
Ryabkov also formulated "homework" for those who were "especially worried" about the Syrians (that is, for Western countries):
Other behavior, he stressed, would be a violation of a UN Security Council resolution.
In turn, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov also expressed concern about the situation in Syria, in particular, the fact that the militants are holding the civilian population hostage. He called for serious attention to the warning of the Russian Ministry of Defense about the upcoming provocation in the area of East Guta related to the use of chemical weapons.
Earlier, Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Federation Council’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Foreign Affairs, commenting on the resolution, said that by the very fact of adoption, it beats the United States, which is seeking an excuse for military intervention in Syrian affairs. At the same time, the USA can easily come up with any excuse, for example, to find again a “test tube with powder”.
Kosachev also emphasized that Russia voted in favor of this resolution, therefore, allegations that Moscow “blocks the efforts of the international community” are a myth.
Kosachev also pointed out two more positive aspects of the document adopted by the Security Council. First, Washington tried to make the ceasefire only concern the East Ghouta region (Damascus province). However, the resolution adopted speaks of a ceasefire throughout Syria and the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions (that is, including those that are blocked by terrorists). Secondly, since it says that the cessation of hostilities does not apply to operations against the most radical terrorist organizations, the loophole that allowed the West to support these groups has been closed.
Unfortunately, threats against Syria continue. The main thing is that they remain only in words. Not to bring them to life is the task of the Russian diplomats, coupled with the brand-new Su-57 fighters recently delivered to the Syrian Arab Republic to be “run-in”.

The “homework”, as I would formulate it, boils down to the fact that all those who have recently demonstrated “heightened concern” about the humanitarian situation in Syria need to follow the decisions in full, without exemptions and any exceptions, produced by the UN Security Council
