Friendly Fire: US strikes Kurds

The United States made another “mistake” in Syria. Instead of launching air strikes against the militants of the Islamic State (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), the U.S. Air Force bombed the Kurds, who are officially considered Washington’s allies in the fight against IS.

The bombing was carried out by two F-15 fighters. At this moment, Kurdish units conducted an operation against the Islamists. U.S. air strikes, mistakenly inflicted on Kurds, led to the deaths of six fighters. Another 15 people were injured.

Agency RIA News quotes information provided by the Russian military-diplomatic source:

Due to the unprofessional actions of the U.S. Air Force on the Kurdish formation advancing on the IS, a F-15 fighter from the coalition forces bombed today

This bombardment led not only to casualties, but also to confusion in the ranks of Kurdish fighters who, as a result, deserted en masse. Because of this, the terrorists of the Islamic State regained control of the territory located near the village of Hadjin (Deir ez-Zor province).

Washington announces the goal of its military presence in Syria against ISIS. In fact, American attacks often fall not on the positions of the Islamists, but on those who fight with them, be it Kurds or forces loyal to a legitimate government. Often, as a result of these bombings, civilians die, not to mention the destroyed Syrian infrastructure.
