Belarus will take the first blow of NATO

A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 22th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus was held in Minsk on February 100. The president of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, spoke at it, and expressed deep concern over the deployment and buildup of weapons near the western borders of the country. He noted an increase in the military contingent of NATO countries and their military spending.

About NATO and the Warsaw Pact

The President noted that Belarus and countries that have recently joined the NATO bloc have long-standing friendly ties. For Belarusians, and for Russians, these countries are native. In the Soviet era, we were all allies and consisted of a single defensive bloc - the Warsaw Pact. After the collapse of the USSR, it was not possible to maintain these relations, and the former allies hastened to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

In his speech, Lukashenko recalled the promise of Western partners not to expand NATO east in the event of the liquidation of the Warsaw Pact. Militarypolitical the union of the countries of the former socialist camp was abolished, and its former members joined NATO in a friendly formation. The President regrets that we have withdrawn troops from the territories of controlled countries, destroyed the country and everything that has been created for decades.

On the current military-political situation

Alexander Grigorievich believes that the modern world lives in the "era of large-scale redivision of the world." He believes that the sovereignty of states has ceased to be the dominant factor. Now the military is beginning to come to the fore economic power. In many countries, including European ones, the influence of leading world players leads to the emergence or exacerbation of internal conflicts.

In many ways, Lukashenko is right. Recall the events in Ukraine in 2013-2014. Then peaceful protest demonstrations in Kiev, with the support and incitement of the United States and Western European countries, developed into an illegal armed seizure of power with the help of right-wing radical elements. As a result, Ukraine received inadequate leaders, the loss of Crimea and a civil war in the east of the country.

Alexander Grigoryevich is a wise leader enough to understand the danger of developing such a scenario. Ukrainian events should serve as a terrible example for Belarus and Russia, so as not to step on the same rake. We now know how it all begins, how it develops and what it can lead to.

Today Belarus maintains good relations with all neighbors. The economic and social policy of the state allows the country's population to feel confidence in the future, therefore there are no serious reasons for dissatisfaction with the authorities. In this country, it is difficult to destabilize the situation.

Of course, the confrontation between Russia and the West is heating up the situation in Eastern Europe, but you should not be afraid of large-scale military operations. Nuclear powers cannot a priori fight among themselves, since this would contradict the banal instinct of self-preservation. The countries of Europe, where the population is slowly and steadily declining, do not need to expand their living space, so there is no threat from them.

And even if there is any threat to the security of Belarus, Russia will use all its military power to protect the fraternal state.
