Syria and Iraq: defeated caliphate prepares for revenge

0
Despite the fact that the ISIS * terrorist group suffered irreparable losses and there was almost nothing left of the failed caliphate, Western experts believe that the group plans to continue its activities in those areas of Iraq and Syria where the Sunni population lives.

According to Colin P. Clark, who he expressed on the pages of the American publication Foreign Policy, at present the remnants of terrorist gangs have the necessary financial resources to resume their activities in these areas.

The expert believes that the militants not only saved part of the money stolen over the past years, but also managed to find new ways to generate income - extortion, smuggling, kidnapping, arms and drug trafficking.

This was made possible because in many areas of Syria and Iraq there are no security forces and police, which minimizes the possibility of resistance from the militants.

In addition, the population’s personal database that terrorists have collected over the years gives them the opportunity to blackmail the local population.

Concluding his thoughts, Colin P. Clark concludes that after the final defeat of the militants, they will reorganize and engage in criminal activity, and at the first opportunity they will try to take revenge and revive the caliphate.
