Import substitution in the Russian aviation industry is gaining momentum

It is no secret that the Russian civil aviation industry uses a large number of foreign components. This also applies to the interior decoration of aircraft, i.e. the interior. Therefore, it is not surprising that Russia was preoccupied with import substitution in this matter. After all, imports are very easily amenable to the sanctioned influence of unfair competitors.

And so, on October 9, 2018, it became known that the production of interiors for a number of the latest Russian aircraft will be launched in Ulyanovsk: Sukhoi Superjet, MS-21 and Tu-214. This was announced by Igor Komarov, envoy of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District. And such attention is encouraging.

The new enterprise will be located on the territory of the port special economic Ulyanovsk zone. A plant is already operating there (owned by Promteh-Ulyanovsk JSC), which produces on-board cable networks and pipeline systems for the aviation industry. But for the further development of the company, it is necessary to expand production and the range of products.

Therefore, 2,2 hectares of land are already allocated to it side by side. This site will house the modern production of domestic aviation interiors, which will replace imports. At the same time, negotiations are ongoing with the Russian corporation Irkut. We are talking about investment in the project, in the amount of 1,5 billion rubles.
