Ukraine entrusts NATO with the protection of its ammunition

1
In connection with the explosions in the ammunition depot in the Ichnyansky district of the Chernihiv region, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that there is not a single weapons depot in the country that would meet NATO standards. He would have liked Ukrainian arsenals to be guarded with the participation of this military bloc.

According to the press service of the Ukrainian defense department, Poroshenko ordered the Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak and Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin to complete negotiations with NATO on the establishment of a special trust fund. Its tasks will include the protection and operation of weapons depots.

A fire in a warehouse located near the village of Druzhba, Ichnyansky district, broke out on the night of October 9. Local residents are evacuated from nearby settlements. Fortunately, there were no dead.

At the same time, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan said on his Facebook page that Russia was to blame for the incident. He put the explosions in the warehouse on a par with the wars of recent decades, the Salisbury incident and “hacker attacks” around the world.

However, these explosions are far from the first incident of this kind. Long before the “Maidan”, in 2003, similar explosions thundered in Artyomovsk (which is now renamed Bakhmut). Since then, this has happened many times. Only last year, arsenals exploded in Balakliya (Kharkiv Oblast), Novoyanisoli (Donetsk Oblast) and Kalinovka (Vinnitsa Oblast). In Ukraine itself, the version is widespread that such incidents are a consequence of the arms trade on the part of some officials. With the help of explosions, you can write off any losses. The question is - will NATO help deal with Ukrainian corruption?

For NATO, this will be another "crap" and an additional headache, I hope that NATO members understand all this well and will not stick their nose where they should not stick it at all.
