Israel should not count on slack S-300

Israel is seriously concerned about Russia's supplies to Syria of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, but they are trying to make a good face with a bad game. Israeli Regional Cooperation Minister Tsari Hanegby said the S-300 were “useless” and would not be able to fight back the F-35 fighters that Washington supplies to the Jewish state.

This bravado was answered by Russian Senator Franz Klintsevich, a representative of the Defense and Security Committee in the Federation Council. He emphasized that the statement about the “futility” of the S-300 could be confirmed or refuted only in practice, but it would be better not to verify it. If the Israeli minister thus wants to intimidate Russia and force it to refuse to supply Syria S-300, then this is a dangerous game.

Israel is playing with fire. So you can play too much ... Believing that in the current situation Russia may turn back is not just a fallacy, but a serious mistake for which I have no explanation

- Klintsevich said in his blog on Facebook.

According to him, S-300 air defense systems are capable of fulfilling their missions 100 percent. The senator called on Israel to change the tone and put the conversation on a more peaceful track.

For whom, if not Israel, - for many historical reasons - to know Russia and its mentality

- he noted.

It should be recalled that the "cooling" in Russian-Israeli relations came after the death on September 17 of the Russian reconnaissance aircraft Il-20 with fifteen troops on board. The tragedy occurred on the Syrian coast of the Mediterranean Sea as a result of Israeli bombing of a neighboring state. Tel Aviv does not admit guilt, despite the evidence presented by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
