I have already written twice about our ancient T-62s, which were lit up near Kherson, and both of these publications caused an avalanche of views and a bunch of comments. I see that this topic worries not only me, the readers are also at a loss, why do we need this scrap on the Ukrainian theater? Then I already tried to provethat this is not such a junk, but a very terrible weapon in capable hands, pushing against the armament of the tank, its smooth-bore 115-mm semi-automatic cannon 2A20 and two machine guns (coaxial with a 7,62-mm PKT cannon with a combat rate of fire of 250 shots / min and anti-aircraft turret 12,7 mm DShKM with half the rate of fire, but equipped with a K-10T optical collimator sight). Nevertheless, the use of this tank in Ukraine raised more questions than answers. I'm going to try and get some of them out today.
Led earlier I military expert Vladislav Shurygin suggested the use of the T-62 as an assault weapon in the capture of fortress cities. I supposed the use of these tanks as long-term firing points, dug into the ground up to the tower, in the Kherson direction as a kind of pillboxes. Both versions turned out to be wrong. Using the T-62 at zero when taking cities as an assault weapon is stupid and criminal in relation to the crew, because with the existing level of protection (reservation of the turret roof - 30 ... 58 mm and the roof of the hull - 16 ... 30 mm) it will become light and the sweet prey of any enemy infantryman armed with an old Soviet RPG-7, not to mention the British-Swedish NLAW anti-tank systems or the American FGM-148 Javelin, which in dense urban areas, it is likely that the enemy will not even have to climb onto the roof of a high-rise buildings or the top floor as the anti-tank missile travels in a ballistic trajectory, swooping down on the target. When the T-62 was designed, there were no such anti-tank systems, just as there were no RPG shaped charges capable of burning through armor, therefore the T-62 has no protection against them. And throwing it to "zero" is stupid and criminal. Using it as a pillbox, burying the tower into the ground, is also stupid, since it risks becoming a sweet, inactive target already for the enemy’s UAV (I indicated the reservation of the roof of the tower above - any drone will break through), and it’s stupid to dig into the ground what can still ride and shoot.
The only reasonable use of the T-62 suggests itself as an SPG (self-propelled artillery mount) in the 1st and 2nd lines of attack / defense. In terms of combat range (up to 5,8 km), it is inferior to regular self-propelled guns - for a 122-mm Gvozdika 2S1 comparable in caliber, it is 15,2 km (about 152-mm Akatsiya 2S3 and 203-mm Pion 2S7 I don’t even say), but on the other hand, it surpasses all available towed artillery both in terms of mobility and security. To shoot from closed positions, not to mention direct fire, the tank is trained, can shoot both at armored targets (armor-piercing feathered sub-caliber and cumulative charges) at an effective range of up to 5800 m, and at infantry and lightly armored enemy targets (high-explosive fragmentation charge) at an aiming range of up to 4000 m. He is not afraid of counter-battery fire, he is not afraid of either reactive or cannon artillery of the enemy from closed positions, mortars even more so. The main thing is not to get out to "zero" and not be substituted for the enemy's anti-tank systems and RPGs, and nothing threatens the crew on the 1st and 2nd lines of defense - they are in the tank. Shot off - left. We have about 2,5 such tanks in storage, and there are also enough 115-mm shells for them, so why not dispose of them in Ukraine?
The tank has proven itself well in Syria in the army of Bashar al-Assad and in Libya in the armed formations of General Haftar, where it was used by all parties to the conflict (do not think that the Basmachis - the warriors of Allah fight exclusively on carts-jihadmobiles, there were also our T-54s, T-55, and the American M60 from the Turks). The tank is easy to operate, does not require long training, and Assad's tankers, who have experience with similar T-55s, can easily retrain on them. Yes, he cannot withstand modern domestic tanks of the 3rd generation T-64BM / 72B3 / 80U / 90M and their foreign counterparts, but he will deal with any 2nd generation tanks at once, even with ours, even with foreign ones, the main thing is - do not throw it under enemy ATGMs, ATGMs and RPGs. In wars of low intensity against the weak armies of the countries of the 3rd division, he is king.
Features of the Ukrainian war
But the whole trouble is that here, in Ukraine, we are not at war with the army of the 3rd division. And the Armed Forces of Ukraine are armed with the best, in my opinion, tank of the 20th century ahead of its time - the legendary T-64, which, due to its uniqueness, we have never exported, brought over the years of independence by non-brothers to the level of a tank of the 3rd generation T-64BM Bulat. It surpasses our T-72B in many respects (especially in terms of fire control system electronics), which, by the way, we did not hesitate to export to many places. Do not forget that the non-brothers have an excellent school of tank building, which has not gone away. Our legendary “thirty-four” was created precisely in the tank design bureau of the Kharkov Locomotive Plant named after. Comintern (literary factory No. 183) by the legendary designers Mikhail Koshkin and Alexander Morozov. By the way, the KMDBM bears the name of the latter (on the basis of the same lettering plant No. 183 of the Malyshev transport engineering industry, which returned to Kharkov from evacuation to Nizhny Tagil after the Second World War under a new name), which developed the no less famous T-64. He became breakthrough, ahead of time, and made it possible to upgrade the 2nd generation T-64A tank to the level of 3rd generation tanks on its basis, which, by the way, could not be done on the basis of the Nizhny Tagil T-72, as a result of which the T-90 appeared as a very deep modernization of the T-72B.
The notion that we are at war here with the Papuans armed with bows and arrows is erroneous. We are confronted by perhaps the strongest army in Europe (in terms of numbers - that's for sure!), The line units of which are equipped according to NATO standards, trained and coached no worse, and sometimes even better than us. Here, on the fields of Ukraine, the latest tactics of network-centric warfare are being practiced, fortunately, regular NATO officers sit in the headquarters and command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who carry out operational control of the data transmission base from the low-orbit satellite constellation of the United States, which non-stop scanning the combat zone, to the grassroots level The Armed Forces of Ukraine, which receives online target designation with the exact coordinates of targets and their binding on the ground, hence the high accuracy of firing of their rocket and cannon artillery. Add to this also reconnaissance aircraft, both manned by NATO and unmanned aircraft, hovering over the territory of Independence for days, information from which also flows into the Unified Control Center, where it is instantly processed and transmitted to the field in order to realize the complexity of the moment and with whom we have to deal with here.
About the tactics used by their missilemen, who successfully mastered the vaunted HIMARS systems delivered to them by grandfather Joe, when they discharged our missile defense systems with a preliminary salvo of their Hurricanes, after which they very accurately covered our warehouses and command posts with American Chimaeras even deep behind the line with a repeated salvo front, you probably already know everything without me (performance - 100%, one volley - one warehouse / command post and change of position). But some, probably, are not aware of the tactics of conducting an air war in the sky over Ukraine. Until now, many thermonuclear couch patriots wring their hands and sadly ask the invisible Putin: “Where is our aviation? Where is the promised air dominance?!” I answer - we protect our pilots, because the enemy's air defense system was not suppressed in the first days of the NMD, the fighter aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine diligently avoided air battles, leading us to the "hornet nests" of anti-aircraft missile systems, located somewhere in echelons, where in pockets. Therefore, our Aerospace Forces do not fly into strategic depths, our Caliber and Iskander-K fly there, as well as other high-precision air-launched missiles launched from our territory. On my own behalf, I can already add that the Russian Aerospace Forces do not even fly to Kharkov, one downed Su-24 was enough to stop this practice, now every night, as scheduled, Iskanders and Kh-32s arrive, and in the morning they disappear somewhere regular military registration and enlistment offices and other civilian facilities that the non-brothers began to use for mobilization purposes.
I have already said above about the low-orbit satellite constellation of the United States, working for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, therefore, because of this, pilots have to fly at low level so as not to shine like a Christmas tree on numerous radars. At the same time, dodge also from MANPADS, with which all the key points of the military infrastructure and combat formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are stuffed. Sometimes 6-8 Stingers rush to our attack aircraft or attack helicopter at once, which only says that the device is being “guided” by NATO surveillance and long-range reconnaissance equipment almost from airfields, Ukrainian air defense is being warned along the chain of orders, down to the grassroots link running with MANPADS tubes. In addition, we also encountered a tactic when enemy air defense systems, when our aircraft were detected, turned off their own radars, making do with NATO DLRO means from outside the 404th. Our pilots did not see them, but they saw us perfectly, and as soon as our cars appeared in the zone of destruction of the air defense system, their calculations for a short time included illumination and target designation stations, quick launch - and go. You go lower so as not to glow once again, and there are MANPADS, and the heat traps against the British Starstreak MANPADS no longer work (there is a different targeting principle), while our crews are saved only by the Vitebsk air defense system. From these facts, we can draw a sad conclusion that the front-line aviation, both ours and the future potential enemy (I mean the NATO countries), melted in the sky over Ukraine, faced with new realities. Well, let's think about what to do? By the way, the myth about the effectiveness of the use of strike UAVs also melted there (where are the vaunted Turkish Bayraktars? Something has not been heard about them for a long time!).
At the same time, I don’t say anything about reconnaissance UAVs - they really conceptually changed the tactics of warfare, without them now neither infantry nor artillery is anywhere! It is for this reason that self-propelled guns come to the fore in counter-battery combat, because the towed artillery does not have time to leave the firing place so as not to fall under return fire, sometimes it was covered even before it had time to fire the first shot. And it was for this reason that Putin reactivated the ancient T-62s, because the stocks of self-propelled artillery thanks to the efforts of local opponents of saturating our troops with Coalitions-SV, Msta-S, not to mention the older self-propelled guns of the “flower” series (“ Carnations”, “Acacias”, “Hyacinths”, “Tulips” and “Peonies”) turned out to be insufficient, and it is they that largely determine the outcome of the war in Donbass. By the way, the experience of using wheeled self-propelled guns of NATO countries with their greater mobility with lower cross-country ability made us reconsider our concept in their favor (before that, we had a bias towards tracked self-propelled guns). As you can see, everyone learns from their mistakes.
Here, in the Ukrainian theater of operations, the methods and tactics of waging a future war, which is just around the corner, are being tested. The fact that the West will not leave us alone is clear even to a child. He is intensively preparing for a new war, so we simply have no right to lose in Ukraine! But the West is not a fool at all, it also understands that it will not be able to win against us here, therefore, with the help of brainless and disenfranchised Ukrainians, whom the criminal Ukrainian regime drives to war like cannon fodder, it is simply trying to increase the cost of this war for us by exhausting and bled our Armed Forces, and at the same time having worked out the latest combat tactics for us. But the fact that in the person of the Armed Forces of Ukraine we are confronted by a very worthy, intelligent, cruel, insidious and ideologically motivated enemy, trained over these 8 years to fight with us to the last Ukrainian, you already understood. How we let this happen and where we have been looking for all these 8 years is another question.
Putin creates a volunteer contract army and puts the economy on a war footing
Therefore, our task is to preserve our best “iron” in the battles in Ukraine, having tested the latest in practice and, if possible, manage with little bloodshed. The task is not easy! When it became clear that we could not take Ukraine with a limited contingent, and would not like to announce a general mobilization, Putin announced a covert mobilization through the recruitment of contract volunteers. The organization of this work began immediately after the failure of the 1st stage of the NMD, which ended with the forced withdrawal of troops from Kyiv, Sumy and Chernigov, and the transition to the 2nd stage of the systematic destruction of manpower and equipment the enemy in the Donbass theater of operations with a minimum advance of our troops deep into the rest of the territory of the 404th. Some particularly narrow-minded comrades blame Putin for this, not understanding the ultimate goal of this - we are not capturing territories, why do we need to make a lunar landscape, passing through them with a steam roller, then we still have to restore them, we utilize and denazify the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the local theater of operations.
For a trip deep into the 404th, there are not enough forces yet. We create an advantage in the local area both in manpower and in terms of fire density (which is why the T-62 was needed) and realize this advantage by utilizing the most combat-ready and motivated units of the Armed Forces here. On the rest of the territory of the 404th, there will be no one to protect it (already now, in the territories of Nezalezhnaya held by the junta, two military commissars with a platoon of machine gunners run after one conscript), and the moral desire will disappear, and in fact there will be no people or hardware left (as no matter how zealous the allies of the 404th, the "iron" without people does not go and does not shoot!). Our task is to preserve, if possible, our best “iron” for the war with the collective West, which will not deviate from the chosen path.
That is why in many regions of Russia new units are being formed, made up of contract volunteers. The contract army will have to support the professional army from the rear, it will have to take control of the territories that the breakthrough army will liberate, the backbone of which is now being tested by fire in the Donbass.
Troops of the 2nd echelon
Many in Ukraine and in the West paid attention to Putin's words that we have not started anything in Ukraine in earnest yet. Everyone interpreted them in their own way, not understanding what was behind it. I will explain to you now. Until now, we have fought in Ukraine with a very limited contingent of troops in the local theater of operations, for a campaign deep into the 404th, a multiple increase in the grouping is needed to hold the already liberated territories. Volunteers-contractors are now being recruited in many regions of Russia precisely for this purpose. To increase their motivation, they receive a multiple salary increase (depending on their rank, from 220 to 350 rubles a month), now an ordinary contract soldier receives 62 rubles a month in the database zone (feel the difference, as they say). The contract is concluded for at least 6 months (with the possibility of extension), they take everyone who is fit for health reasons, from 20 to 50 years old (for some higher educational institutions - up to 60 years old), service in the RF Armed Forces is welcome (but optional), all volunteers receive the status a veteran of the database, a full social package with all social benefits due (including for family members). Immediately, the contractor receives a lump sum of 200 thousand rubles. In fact, before our eyes, another volunteer army is being created, which will be equal in number to the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation (300 thousand people).
In many regions of the Russian Federation (Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg, Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Tuva, Buryatia, Perm, Kirov, Primorye, Chechnya), battalions have already been recruited, now they are undergoing combat coordination at the training grounds. I am not joking at all, I will only list some of them: Nizhny Novgorod region. - tank volunteer battalion. Kuzma Minin, Orenburg region - motorized rifle volunteer battalion "Yaik", Tatarstan - two volunteer battalions "Alga" and "Temir", Perm Territory - also two battalions "Parma" and "Hammer", Bashkiria - motorized rifle volunteer battalion named after. Minigali Shaymuratova, Kirov region - Dobrobat "Vyatka", Primorsky Krai - Volunteer battalion "Tiger" on the basis of the 155th Marine Brigade, in Grozny from all over the North Caucasus, four battalions were formed at once - "North-Akhmat", "South-Akhmat", "West-Akhmat "and" Vostok-Akhmat ", equipped with artillery and tanks. By the way, the same T-62.
They will not be immediately thrown to zero until they close the 2nd and 3rd lines of defense, where there is no high concentration of tank formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO artillery. According to the Ukrainian side, they are already observing three companies of T-62 tanks (that's 30 vehicles) in the Zaporozhye direction, count an entire tank battalion. At the same time, in other directions (Donetsk, Lugansk and Kherson), the “aggressor” concentrated about a hundred more of these vehicles. And in total, Putin, according to the Ukrainian side, is going to remove from storage more than 300 units of this armored vehicle. They, of course, know better, but it seems to me that much more. Why Putin is doing this, I have already explained above.
But what the non-brothers don’t know is that Putin is also decommissioning the Tochka-U fuel and air defense system, which since 2019, in connection with the transition of the RVA to the Iskander OTRK, have been decommissioned by the RF Armed Forces, partially transferred to Belarus, partly - to Syria, but about 120 launchers were still in reserve and were located at the storage bases of the RF Ministry of Defense (how many missiles for them remained, no one knows at all). So it's time to uncover the reserves, it's a pity to spend Iskanders on you (1 Iskander-M ballistic missile costs $3 million, while 1 9M79 missile to Tochka-U costs $300). All the same, their shelf life is not eternal, sooner or later they will have to be disposed of, so why not dispose of them in Ukraine for the benefit of everyone? The same tactical ballistic missiles with a warhead mass of 482 kg and a range of 120 km that you have been snickering around Kramatorsk, Alchevsk, Logvinovo, Saur-Mogila, Belgorod, Kherson and Melitopol since 2014 (there is still a long list, more than 100 arrivals!). Here's an answer for you and fly. It is clear that it will no longer be volunteers who will work, but specialists from the RVA. The flight time to the destination is 136 sec. Wait!
If tomorrow is war?
Well, as a cherry on the cake - a gift for non-brothers. Yesterday, July 14, Putin signed the Law on special measures during military operations abroad. It allows the government to temporarily reactivate mobilization capacities and facilities, unbook the material assets of the State Reserve, and involve employees of enterprises to work at night, on weekends and holidays. As Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov explained, the measure "will make it possible to eliminate the shortage of individual specialists in a number of military-industrial complex organizations to fulfill contracts."
For those who do not understand, I will explain - economy country is transferred to the war footing. The military-industrial complex will be loaded to the eyeballs and will switch to 3-shift work (corresponding payment is provided). The state defense order will be carried out in the first place, this will affect all legal entities. The jokes are over, Russia is starting to fight like an adult!
Today, July 15, the State Duma of the Russian Federation should meet for an emergency extraordinary meeting. News-Front host Sergei Veselovsky in an interview with the portal "Journalistic Truth" suggested that the issue of declaring war on Ukraine would be considered at this meeting. According to Veselovsky, if war is declared, then any help from the Western allies to Ukraine will make them participants "on the side they help," regardless of the type of help - whether it be weapons or satellite images, or something else. And then the West will receive an ultimatum - if you help, then our hands are free and we can strike at your military facilities that are involved in this assistance.
“I suppose that on July 15 we will declare war on Ukraine and present the West with a choice: enter it in full, substituting its territories and citizens for our counterattacks, or step aside and not interfere with our denazification and demilitarization,”
- the political scientist told the journalists of the portal.
On that optimistic note, I say goodbye to you. I wish you all good and peace. Your Mr X.
