Air components will be twice cheaper and stronger

Russian scientists have found a way to replace titanium with aluminum when creating aircraft. New technology developed by specialists of the National Research Technological University (NITU) "MISiS". Thanks to 3D printing of aluminum, parts will be twice as durable as those currently used in domestic aircraft construction.

This result is associated with the use of innovative precursors. These are modifiers obtained by burning aluminum powders. The strength of the composites is doubled due to the fact that the particles are more tightly attached to the aluminum base.

Modifiers are currently made from titanium. However, one of the main properties of this metal, which is best suited for the needs of aviation production, is its high fire hazard. Therefore, you cannot use titanium in 3D printing. But with the help of 3D printing technology it is very easy to create aluminum products.

Now they will not be inferior in strength to titanium, which will allow the use of aluminum in the aerospace industry, and their cost will significantly decrease. Accordingly, the costs will also be lower in the production of aviation and space parts.

The next success of Russian scientists, thus, fits perfectly into the course of modernization and innovation of domestic production.
