It is clear that the conflict over Ukraine and the special Russian military operation that it caused are the result of NATO's defiant and irresponsible behavior in Europe. A number of steps taken by the alliance, in particular the thoughtless expansion to the east, the rapid approach not just to the zone of influence of Moscow, but directly to the borders of Russia, became the cause of what happened in Ukraine, as well as global geopolitical shifts.
However, the escalation in Europe has not taught the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance anything, so NATO continues its vicious run in circles, without drawing conclusions, without doubting its steps, decisions and activities, which only lead to a further increase in conflict in the world and the European region.
For example, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Telegraph reports that the leadership of the alliance is developing a plan for the permanent deployment of full-fledged armed forces on the border with Russia, taking into account the fact that so far only small units without heavy weapons have been stationed there. This refers to the replenishment of not only personnel, but also the creation of an appropriate infrastructure. The only thing that in this case serves as a “de-escalation” is empty assurances and statements that the increase in the number of groups and weapons is done solely for the sake of protection, and not attack. But these words are not enough for complete certainty.
Russia's Behavior Has Caused a Strong and Fundamental Realignment of NATO
Stoltenberg summed up.
According to him, there is a “reboot” and “long-term adaptation”. Now all forces are directed to finding options for the planned restructuring. Nothing is said about attempts to reduce the intensity of passions between Brussels and Moscow, there are not even rough proposals on the problem of Russia's security in the light of the even more aggressive plans of the alliance, at the same time it was decided to pump up the group near the borders of the Russian Federation. Definitely, the US-led collective West wants to fight, but not for Ukraine, but against Russia. The parties are in a stalemate. Russia's actions had no effect on Brussels, and European policy deaf to arguments.
The transformations announced by the Secretary General and the actual resumption of movement to the east show that there is no question of any curtailment of NATO aggression against the Russian Federation, rather the opposite. Mistakes, which were once stated by the head of the EU diplomatic service, Josep Borrell, are not taken into account. That is, the issue that caused so many problems in Europe is not only not resolved, but is getting worse. The bitterness is growing. The key will be the summit of the leaders of the countries belonging to the alliance, which will be held in June this year in Madrid. Although there is no hope for a positive result.
