What is behind the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats from EU countries
Even against the background of relatively successful negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, as well as every possible demonstration by Moscow of a desire for peace, the collective West is no longer willing to retreat in the sanctions pressure. The role of the "executioner" of Russia was very much liked by all, without exception, the accusers of the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Therefore, for example, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after waiting for the end of the Russian-Ukrainian meeting in Istanbul, announced that the sanctions would not be lifted even if a peace treaty was signed. However, it was known from the beginning.
Almost simultaneously with Johnson's statements, four European countries immediately announced the expulsion of Russian diplomats, who were accused of espionage and unwanted activities. In total, more than 40 Russian diplomats and diplomatic missions have been declared persona non grata. The Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic and even Ireland are participating in this provocative action.
It is noteworthy that the US State Department reacted very positively to these unfriendly actions, which intervened in other people's affairs with its “opinion”, showing on whose tacit initiative the deportation took place. The Russian Foreign Ministry has already called Washington's behavior contrary to official statements about its commitment to resolving conflict situations between the two countries. However, such appeals have never had much success and impact.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has officially notified all parties to the international confrontation that the unfriendly actions under consideration will not go unanswered. He will be forced and adequate.
The mutual expulsion of diplomats seriously "exhausts" the mutual missions of European countries, the United States and Russia. In the conditions of modern hybrid undeclared wars, such an approach is the very declaration of a break in relations that is habitually expected, but not officially received in the form of a note. With each round of sanctions or expulsions of employees, embassies and diplomatic missions simply do not have time to replenish, replace staff and staff, decreasing in number. All this, of course, affects the work of the missions and the support of compatriots.
The Russian embassy in the United States, which suffered the most from the actions of the State Department, treated its colleagues with understanding and expressed support in connection with the aggressive, unreasonable actions of Western countries. However, the fact that diplomacy is gradually losing its political On the other hand, the effectiveness of peacekeeping and negotiation activities, there remains only a purely documentary functionality and work as a support service for citizens abroad.
