Will electric cars take root in Russia?

2
Russia risks forever remaining the sales market for cars with internal combustion engines that have become all unnecessary. In the European Union, the sale of 2018 million electric vehicles is expected in 1,3. There are already over 3,2 million of them worldwide, the largest demand for electric cars is observed in China. Electric cars are very fond of Norwegians, Germans and British. And by 2025, a tenfold increase in this segment of the car market is expected.

Since 2024, Paris has banned the sale of diesel cars in France, and from 2040 - and gasoline. In Germany, since 2030, the production of cars with internal combustion engines has been banned. India is not far behind Germany, where in 12 years it will be possible to buy only an electric car or a hybrid car. According to analysts, by 2040 there will be more than half a billion electric vehicles in the world.

For comparison, in Russia there are only 2,5 thousand electric cars. As a rule, this is a Nissan Leaf of American assembly, which buyers themselves bring to the country privately. Market participants comment on the situation this way:

Normally, you cannot insure him. There is no official supply of spare parts, nor service.

What is the real situation, and is there anything you can do about it?

It is customary to nod to the cold climate of Russia and its focus on hydrocarbon raw materials, as the reason for the low popularity of electric cars. However, in Europe, the highest demand for such cars is in cold and oil-rich Norway. Experts point to a number of factors that influence the decision of the Russians to purchase electric vehicles.

First of all, this is the underdevelopment of the infrastructure for charging electric cars in our country. The best situation is in the capital and near Moscow region, where one such station has 7 cars. in other regions, everything is much worse: from 26 - in the Primorsky Territory to 165 in the Amur Region. The government of the Moscow region explains:

The market is in a state of investment coma; there are a number of unresolved issues at the legislative level.

It turns out a vicious circle. Due to the underdeveloped network of charging stations, Russians are in no hurry to buy electric cars. And because of the small number of electric vehicles, it is completely unprofitable for a business to open a network of charging stations.

The situation could be helped to rectify the authorities by adopting incentive measures. For example, to introduce a zero transport tax on electric cars, zero duties for their import, give electric cars the right to move along lanes for public transport, and provide free parking. One could take an example from the United States, where buyers are paid serious monetary compensation when buying an electric car (7,5 thousand dollars). The state could provide benefits to businesses that are willing to invest in a network of charging stations.

But while all this remains only good wishes. In the current state of affairs, our country will become a dump for non-environmentally friendly ICE vehicles from around the world.

    - Russia has been deprived of territory by nature ... - the population is huddled just on a tiny patch; deprived of minerals ... - there are no underlying reserves ... - no oil., no gas .., no coal .., no forest .., no fresh water ... over the hill ... -Therefore we have such expensive gasoline ... and so poorly gasified our own Russian population ..; and "electricity" has to be purchased from China and North Korea ...
-This is the conclusion ... -How much will the cost of "electricity" increase in Russia .., if suddenly they start to use electricity in Russia ... -This is not even a very literate Russian citizen will be able to understand ...

And in winter, electric cars will be heated with wood in stoves, potbelly stoves ...
"The highlight of the program is the marathon,
And the degrees are all thirty
    But he’s used to heat
    So he masters.

I would, by the way, have looked at him,
When would it be minus thirty!
Well, now, of course, get it!
It remains to swear ... "V. Vysotsky
