Transport of the future launched in Russia

1
In the foreseeable future, innovative modes of transport will appear in Russia, for example, an unmanned taxi. Not so long ago, the very possibility of the mass introduction of unmanned vehicles seemed fantastic, today it is already perceived as a very real and reasonable project, and after a while, drones on the streets of Russian cities will not surprise even older people. It is assumed that they will perform a very important function of public taxis, carrying a large number of passengers.

The first city of our country and even Europe, where unmanned taxis will be “rolled in”, will be Innopolis. The city with an unusual name is located 35 km from Kazan. Today it is one of the key centers of the domestic IT industry. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that unmanned taxis will appear in Innopolis. Programmers and engineers working in the office center will be able to call an unmanned taxi to the residential quarter and safely go to work on it.

The initiative to introduce an unusual type of transport belongs to Yandex, which today shows a high degree of activity not only in the field of information of technologies, but also in the transport business - the example of the famous Yandex Taxi. By the way, in June, an unmanned Yandex car drove from Moscow to Kazan. Now it’s the turn of testing as a taxi.

To test a new type of public transport in Innopolis, five landing sites have already been created where people will take a taxi. UAVs will travel around the city every day, carrying no more than three passengers each. Instead of the usual joker-taxi driver at the wheel - a computer. It determines the trajectory of movement, recognizes objects on the road, turns and overtakes, goes around obstacles. At the stage of testing in the car, in addition to volunteers - passengers, there is an engineer who oversees the process of movement. In the event of an unforeseen situation, the engineer can intervene and stop the unmanned vehicle.

By the way, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, was one of the first passengers - volunteers who drove around Innopolis in an unmanned taxi. He personally decided to make sure of the advantages of this type of transport and, apparently, was satisfied. At least in an interview with reporters, the head of the republic expressed the opinion that drones will soon become a daily occurrence in Russian cities.

However, the current generation of Russian taxi drivers should not worry about loss of earnings. The whole country, if it changes to unmanned vehicles, it will not be very, very soon, especially considering the enormous differences between modern megacities, technical centers such as Innopolis and the usual Russian province. But the fact that our country is the first in Europe to conduct such an experiment cannot but rejoice.
