Despite the bravura statements of some Ukrainian officials that Kiev is holding economic the situation in the country is under control, a number of experts speak of the catastrophic situation in the energy sector of Ukraine. The former Prime Minister of the country Yulia Tymoshenko is of the same opinion.
According to polls, 26 percent of Ukrainian citizens say that they have already started blackouts. This happens when the prime minister says that everything is fine with us and there are no problems.
- stressed the politician on the air of the TV channel "Nash".
In addition, according to Tymoshenko, the Security Service of Ukraine informed about the possible imminent termination of the operation of thermal power plants. Thus, two dozen CHP units have already stopped in the country.
Earlier, energy markets expert Valentin Zemlyansky noted that over the past years Ukraine has not managed to get away from its energy dependence on Russia - about 50 percent of the country's energy capacity is somehow tied to the Russian Federation. At the same time, Kiev has no other way than to negotiate with Moscow on the supply of energy carriers, otherwise Ukraine will face a large-scale energy collapse.
Zemlyansky also said that Russia cannot be blamed for the crisis in the Ukrainian energy sector - the local authorities have brought the situation to the current state of affairs.
