Azerbaijani army concentrates large forces on the Armenian border
The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, which broke out on the border of the two states and subsided on November 16 through the mediation of Russia, may flare up again. Images of azerbaijani military circulated on social media equipment and artillery, which moves towards the border with a neighboring state.
Azerbaijani social media users publish footage of the redeployment of the army, whose units are accumulating on the border of Azerbaijan with Armenia.
Meanwhile, despite the recently concluded truce, clashes between the military personnel of the two states continue. Thus, the Armenian military department reported that on the evening of November 17, Azerbaijanis opened indiscriminate fire in the direction of the border point in the Tavush region of Armenia. Thanks to the retaliatory actions of the Armenian soldiers, the fire of the opposite side was suppressed.
The confrontation between the two sides entered an open phase on November 16 on the border of the Syunik region of Armenia and the Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan. Until the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Kelbajar region was controlled by the army of the unrecognized republic, but after the conclusion of peace in November 2020, this region came under the jurisdiction of Baku.
Earlier, the parties reported on their losses incurred as a result of a short-term conflict. Thus, Yerevan published data on the death of one serviceman and the capture of 13 soldiers; it has not yet been possible to establish contact with 24 soldiers. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, for its part, informed about 7 dead and 10 wounded.
