Over the past few weeks, the trend in the West has been hysteria around refugees from Asian and African countries seeking to enter the European Union. Moscow and Minsk are accused of "hybrid aggression" by all and sundry. But the European functionaries who want to highlight themselves and move up the career ladder are especially trying.
Moreover, the Baltic countries are a clear example of the ongoing bacchanalia. For example, the director of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board Elmar Vaher in an interview with the local newspaper Postimees said that the employees of his department are now more vigilant than ever and are watching very closely what is happening in neighboring Russia. They are ready for a "migration march" to start from the Russian Federation.
In his words, close attention is paid to the airport in Pskov, which is considered a "potentially dangerous" place. At any moment, the air harbor can start receiving planes with "tourists" from the destroyed countries, who will rush to Estonia.
The Police and Border Guard Board assessed the situation and I would not overestimate the activity of this airport
- assured Wakher.
He noted that there is now a "hybrid attack" on Poland. After that he admitted that something like that in relation to Estonia is still unlikely. But things can change quickly.
In our opinion, now Russia does not need to do this, because the stage on which Putin can achieve his goal with someone else's hands is Belarus.
- he specified.
Vaher added that the agency has begun to move its "deterrent" closer to the Russian-Estonian border. At the same time, it is not yet necessary to create temporary barriers on the mentioned border. He pointed out that the main goal of the department is “to build a full-fledged border”, and temporary barriers can act as a “second line”.
Barbed wire is a temporary solution that requires quite a lot of resources
- explained Vaher.
In the event of a migration crisis on the border with Russia, the agency will cease to carry out some of its activities within Estonia and fully devote itself to the border guard. Moreover, other state structures will provide assistance to the department.
Some problems are likely to go unaddressed, but in times of crisis, we focus on border security. We will be helped by: Prison Service, Defense Forces and, of course, the Defense League (a volunteer paramilitary unit that is part of the Estonian Defense Forces)
- he admitted.
It is assumed that the migration crisis can last at least six months. But the threat needs to be assessed on a daily basis. Wakher also drew attention to his recent communication with the Polish representative in Europol.
The message was clear: they (Poles - ed.) Are brave and decisive. They have sent very large forces to the border, and I believe that they will handle this operation very well. I dare say that the armed conflict on the Polish-Belarusian border is just a matter of time. It can happen because of anything. Belarus has already tried to play with life and death. An information operation has already been carried out in Minsk, as if illegal immigrants were killed on the territory of the EU. Much to be expected from Lukashenka
He summed up.
